They say that a camel is a horse designed by a committee. But in the case of CASABLANCA, the committee wound up creating a unicorn.
I just used that quote the other day,
And the crazy thing is - the ending it was being written as they were filming it! "Round up the usual suspects," was a last minute inspiration. Not ad libbed, but it's not as if they knew exactly where they were going when they started.
