Historical image depicts three young female Albanian partisans during World War II, performing the anti-fascist salute. The Albanian text at the bottom, "TRE PARTIZANE TΓ REJA DUKE PΓRSHΓNDETUR ME GRUSHTIN ANTI FASHIST," translates to "Three young female partisans saluting with the anti-fascist fist."

βtwo blind women one playing beautifully strange electric guitar while the other sings sublimely into a microphone . powered by a battery carried in a bag by the guitar player & blasted out through a megaphone carried by a young man who leads them along...
I listened with a wince because she's so awful. Great episode. But hey, keep her name out of gen x's mouth. She does not belong to us. NOT IT. I do agree that she seems the type to like Reality Bites. Which is a movie by Boomers about what they thought gen x alternative culture was. Much hated.
Photo of a cuneiform tablet fragment shaped a bit like an irregular diamond. It preserves nearly 20 incomplete lines of text separated by a horizontal ruling
There's a broken cuneiform tablet from the Old Babylonian period, nearly 4,000 years ago, which preserves a tiny portion of a dialogue between two friends.
It feels a bit like the conversations I've been having for the past week, so I wanted to share it.
Maniac!
This is what ecocide looks like.
Same. That kind of attitude is such a bummer. It's also my job as an artist to stay curious. I always think of John Cale as a good role model for this. And also the current incarnation of Devo's motto: "Mutate, don't stagnate."
Yes. I mean I'll talk to anyone who'll listen about the late 80's/early 90's underground, but I'm well aware that it's just one fleeting time.
*shared in the form of support, not finger-wagging about how your scene was better. That's hippie shit.
I love to tell people about the scene in Boston in the 90's but I do not want a time machine.
I'll add that maybe the purpose of your own past magical scenes is to fuel everything else you do & create for the rest of your life, and your networks of friends & collaborators. And those things combined are meant to be shared with the people coming up behind you. That's the magical part.
no your magical special scene of the past couldn't happen today because "the kids" are making their own damn special magical scene now
all time is magic just shut up make noise be alive now don't think old just play
best wishes your pal a middle aged kid

Wow! Amazing.
The other was a fashion photographer who started in the US Army, where he developed some of the first photos of the mushroom cloud over Hiroshima. He thought something was wrong with his chemicals. It made him a lifelong pacifist.
One was a Holocaust survivor & Nazi-punching badass who bribed his way out of being forcibly conscripted into the occupying Soviet army with two bottles of black market vodka, so he could take his infant & wife west; then he was a couture tailor.
Someone should create a bot responding to everyone mention The Fall / Mark E Smith with their lyrics. Or just The Fall lyrics bot.
In fact I'd love to take on if someone will show me how. Holla!

The US Justice Department withheld testimony that Donald Trump sexually abused a girl when she was 13 or 14 - according to a source who viewed unredacted Epstein files.
This is the worst scandal in US history and should be the biggest news story on the planet right now.

My mother was 18 when Black women were able to vote openly. 23 when Roe v. Wade passed. 24 when women were allowed bank accounts in their own names
I was 29 when I lost my right to an abortion. I am 33 & about to lose my right to vote
A pox on every Trump supporter. Hell ainβt hot enough for you.
12-year-old Ender wrote that when she felt sick at Dilley, the doctor would only say to drink more water.
βThe worst thing is that it seems like the water is what makes people sick here,β she wrote in her letter.

This is very Ashkenazi, as befits Lebowitz; as we are fond of saying, it could always be worse.
What stage of "late-stage capitalism" are we in now?
A timeless classic.
these guys just want to bum a camel light from you
I'm working on a guide for community opposition. There's going to be so many ways to make this impossible to materialize if people are willing to put in the work. Local community efforts dealing with zoning, building codes, etc will be vital. We must stop this
