What? I loved the original and have been wondering what happened to the sequel. And you even wrote it!
Gotta grab this

And hear me out, gents...
Professional conferences weren't a speed-dating event, but a place where developers can meet in safety to make cool shit for the rest of the world?

I will NOT be normal about this when it comes out. Olive and her team are doing the incredible work of translating an all-timer tabletop tactical RPG into a video game---and it looks fantastic.
Wishlist it! They deserve your support.
Fellow writers: I am deeply saddened to share that if we want the rewards of having written, we must submit to the mortifying ordeal of writing
a CEO is a vibes based position who, upon learning that one woman can make a baby in nine months, reasons that 9 women can make a baby in one month but as a cost saving measure only hires 0.7 women for 29 hours a month to avoid having to pay benefits
Btw mon Starter Pack des gens queer francophone du JV existe toujours, et a toujours de la place !
Yes! I imagine our actors would despise my bad impressions of them but I sure do them!
I love how the game pushes back against player desires in interesting ways. You aren't set up to be the best person, or the greatest archaeologist, or even a friend to your robot companion. It's like narrative friction the same way we often get gameplay friction. Def something I want to chew on more
Once I finally buckled down and got over my dislike of the locomotion, I fell in love with the feeling of unearthing real archaeological secrets. It was a blast to finish and one that I recommend to any puzzle or adventure game fans.

Here's another game that I only properly played in 2025. Heaven's Vault by @inkle.co. It's an intricate, expansive mystery that, I admit, was a struggle to get into.
When it first launched, I saw the action and thought the visuals looked cool, but I didn't understand the actual tone of the game. Having played it, I will say that it nails the feeling of being abroad and falling in love with a place that you know you won't be in forever.
It's got this almost magic realist approach where the dungeons are literal tourist traps. The loop of exploring open areas, solving dungeons, and then building relationships in town is fantastic.
Dungeons of Hinterberg by @microbirdgames.bsky.social was one of my favourite discoveries in 2025. What a cozy, intriguing game.
Thoughts and prayers for all gamedev producers today as they plead with their teams to update their Jiras after the holidays 😔 🙏🏼
Running Lancer is a great time. Despite the complexity of the system as a whole, I feel like the GM side is not nearly as heavy as it could be (sky is the limit if you want to tune your encounters like crazy of course).
Essentially, I think that LLM-generated dialogue only makes sense if you believe that the product of writing is words.
But the product of writing isn't words, any more than the product of justice is prisoners, or the product of love is weddings. The product of writing is meaning.
This is the games writer equivalent of that guy who does reload animations with vacuums
Oh. I've been enjoying Dungeons of Hinterburg. It takes a kind of magical realist approach to a dungeon crawler/Zelda game? You are a tourist in a cute Austrian town, slaying magical monsters. Very cozy, very smart, feels very good when I'm stressed.
@alblune.bsky.social You've made another hit in our household. My daughter loved Spirit and Mouse and now she's diving into Squeakcross.
Most of us did not choose to write or draw or design so that we could put products on the shelf. We chose to do it because it’s a set of skills we enjoy exercising, that give us fulfillment.
It’s like asking a pro pitcher to just let a machine pitch for them. Fuck off and give me the ball.
This never clicked for me before but I absolutely agree. These little goobers exude both charm and imperialist bufoonery.
I propose a "You Released a Game" award and the winner is anyone who's ever managed to release an actual honest-to-goodness game.
I'm really excited to see the studio return to Kelowna as well. Hope some positions open there soon!
An extremely tepid take but seeing lots of people take the new LRT train (the REM) in Montreal has been great. Plus it goes through a hundred year old tunnel through the mountain! It's probably haunted 👻
The tarot on my desk agrees completely.
Overheard a woman on the subway start a story with
“When I was 23 - you know, three years ago…”
Proving that bad expository dialogue happens in real life too.
Short spoiler free story about my experience with Arco.
Back before bsky took off, I saw a post on Twitter from a game dev asking for advice because their game is reviewing extremely highly but it's not reflecting on sales. I wanna help but I gotta try it first. So I make a note to check it out. 1/
