My colleagues found this yesterday following a settlement about AI, scraping and authorship, and some of us are eligible. We are wondering if it is for real/what the consequences of claiming might be. Any ideas anyone?

Portugal is taking online disinformation and fake news seriously. As part of a broader attempt to encourage media literacy, itβs offering 15-18 year olds a free digital subscription to a range of respected newspapers and magazines as well as online upstarts that donβt spread lies. (Monocle)

This was a brilliant read Amanda, and such open and honest reflections. Its making me think about how we use Nvivo in a public health, local authority context. Something which weβre having continuous conversations about! π
Oh I am so pleased! Thank you so much! Glad it resonated! π

With Starmer's talk of 'strangers' in his diatribe this morning (invoking Enoch Powell), it's worth remembering Sara Ahmed's amazing work on how 'strangeness' isn't about a lack of recognition, but how we actually recognise strangeness via the identities and bodies we've been told to fear.
Well. This government is as hell bent on ruining our sector as the last one. What have we come to?

Oh well. I applied for promotion to professor and the internal panel (scientist after scientist after scientist after medic) decided that it wasnβt even worth sending it out to review as I donβt meet the criteria. Apparently. Iβm looking forward to the feedback on this one.
The geopolitical implications of this for South East Asia are huge - and by extension all of us. The US just dramatically shifted a global power axis.
I decided to start a #thread 𧡠of stories about legal residents and tourists being (illegally) arrested, detained and/or deported by the Trump regime. I'll only post stories from serious sources, as rumors and conspiracies are really not needed in this authoritarian moment.
Well originally it was going to be NVivo Nightmaresβ¦.
But I do work on performance so I figured I should be moreβ¦. dramatic. π€£π
I mean part of me wonders when AI will be integrated into this programme thatβs basically not changed in YEARS of using it. But thatβs another issue.
Ah thank you! Yes. Re-coding. I talk about that.β¦. GOOD LUCK π€£ππ©
I have a new piece out in Area about my frustrations with using NVivo. Yeah. I said it. You all think it when youβre using it, I bet! But itβs more than a rant donβt worry! π

So that Kendrick Super Bowl performance is going into everyoneβs lectures then yeah?!
Wellβ¦. this has been happening across the sector for a while. We just avoided CR for the second time but lost hundreds of staff again across the institution. But Cardiff University is the biggest employer in Wales and I agree it is big news for this reason especially.
Which idiot thought exam marking would be a good assessment? Ah yes. That would be me. I forgot what itβs like to wade through this many.
10/80 done. π©
The convention here is to say you are delighted to share a paper youβve written. I'm not quite sure I can say that, but I will be pleased if this paper can further understandings of patient and social science perspectives around #pain and #FND. Look away now if health updates are not your thing 1/n
First draft for me. Itβs much too long, itβs really scrappy in parts, but I have finally written it all out. Now to get it into publisher first draft shape before Easter so it can go out to review. Sabbatical here we goβ¦..
This, X, Apple News β plus the general Trump/Musk situation. Jeez. World is burning.
This is especially serious in countries where FB is the main news source.

Rant over. I could really go on but wonβt.

So, hereβs my birthday question: 40+ year women, how do you remain visible to YOU when navigating public spaces? No wrong answers & no pic required. Iβll be contemplating this question today.
Ha thanks! Iβve been chronically offline. Was wondering how you were the other day. Hope all is good.
