I don't read much romance either, but contemporary fiction that I thought was good includes Open Water (helpfully short, if you don't like it). I enjoyed Our Wives Under the Sea which is a weird book some call 'Gothic romance' (others horror)-might overlap with your interests but not true romance!

Ah yes, I have looked at this book - I quote it, didn't recognise it! It's great. Interesting that you have it as 1975, I had it as 1940s/50s but it is listed all over the place as different dates - I have a long footnote about trying to date it but maybe I got it wrong!

Thanks! Sorry I think I posted twice by accident so you replied to my deleted one, but that's useful. I guess, in short, we're not liable for any costs or anything by signing up it seems? Worst case is you get less money than expected? And probably have to work out some complicated tax paperwork?
Have any fellow academics received an Anthropic class action notice? Are there any downsides to opting in? It seems actually legitimate but I'm inherently suspicious of people writing to me offering free money.
