People I know and love aren't taking appropriate action b/c of sanewashing. Because there is no Saturday Night Massacre. Yes we no longer have a fractured media landscape without authority over what's "true". That makes Obama et al naming names about the urgency of the moment *more* important.
Whether you call this "fixing" or not, having authority figures emphatically denounce Trumpism and put it in context because it signals the urgency of the issue to "people" who are accustomed to being told what is real by the NYT. Those people need to be part of "together we rise".
