Fun afternoon emerging- Italian Wars at the WHC
Lived in cork 40 years ago. Knew (English!) twats living in Dublin who would only drink bottled Guinness in cork because the draught βwasnβt the sameβ. Like I said, twats.
Mind you, I always drank Murphyβs.
I do the reverse. My cat either sleeps in the kitchen or heβs off out all night. Not allowed to roam the house at night.
When my missus is away he sleeps on my bed or goes where the fuck he wants.
Heβs a cat.
Sometimes I do, certainlyβ¦.
Another reason is that people dwell on a golden, younger, past is because it represents a time when they envisioned a future life which was much brighter than the one they ended up with.
Yeah, thatβs my thought. Even though Iβd given up posting there I was still looking at the most utter nonsense.
More toy soldier time!
Finally got round to deleting my Twitter account. For some reason it wasnβt letting me do so on my iPad (curious, no?) but with a bit perseverance, Iβm done.
I feel better already
Shields!
Great day at Salute, good to see so many like minded folk. Received this excellent introduction to the Italian Wars from the wonderful Charles Singleton at #helionbooks which has loads of pictures of my stuff! Also has a top notch painting guide from the master of the period, Stuart Mulligan
Pre Salute WSS action
Very few people want a 2 day show.
SLW have to give Excel a lot more money. Traders costs increase significantly but footfall/spend/attendance remains pretty much the same for 2 days as it does for 1.
Itβs not viable.
See you there- looking forward to it.
Of course as the game progressed on nearly 600 square feet of table, the players naturally crammed all 30 ships into 1 tiny cornerβ¦..π
1/300th Old Glory.
Look fantastic, but an absolute nightmare of bendy white metal and resin
Glorious 1st of June action today
Norris.
1/300 Napoleonic naval try out
Itβs all a bit Jack Sparrow rather than Horatio Nelson
Sounds like I need to get busy!π€£π¬
Outstanding Des!
Myself and @whcmark.bsky.social have been asked to help provide some photos for a forthcoming book on the Italian Wars. A very busy day has been spent setting up and snapping.
Hereβs a little teaser: 1 of about 100 pictures we took.
Probably kick off with the Wawro, gives a good general overview plus sections on each army, tactics, armaments
Brrrrrrrrrr!
That was the edition I first read- off school for a week with flu- devoured it in 4 days.
Thank you, and the view shortly afterwards
GdA2 handled Borodino very well- a tough, suitably brutal struggle. The French managed limited success, breaking the Russian line south of the Grand Redoubt, but lacked the reserves to exploit. Both armies were pretty spent. A great weekend.

The guard cavalry advance!
Cuirassier move up towards the flèches
Russian dragoons counter attack
Set up for a weekend of GdA2 Borodino! #spreadthelard
