Uh, wow. This was the laugh I was not expecting.

Scientific Shot of a Peacock mantis shrimp eyes which are the most advanced in the animal world. Photo by Daniel Sasse.
the mantis shrimp has 16 types of color receptors.
humans have 3.
we see roughly 10 million colors and think that's impressive.
the mantis shrimp is sitting there processing a visual reality so hyperchromatic that scientists genuinely aren't sure what it's like to be one.

Interesting interview with Clarissa Ward who is in iraq covering the iranian kurds. I dont know her reputation but fun old school journalism bit where she mentions asking a car dealer about things and he mentions an iranian kurd leader ordering 50 toyota trucks

Stunning views crossing a frozen lake last night. And the trail was firm and fast too, which made a nice change from slogging through wet snow (at one point the night before Pulkee and I were doing 1 mph).
Finally finished my timelapse of the lunar eclipse under the aurora in Fairbanks, Alaska! Check out the massive substorm turning the ground green in front of the eclipse, too!
This is one of my favorite timelapses I have captured!

Photo looking out over a wet and muddy field with a few trees and Lake Michigan beyond. There's a cloudy sky reflecting some pink from a sunset in the opposite direction and near the center a near vertical stroke of pink where a rainbow started to form.
It tried to rainbow on the south side right as the bright pink sunset peaked, reflecting off of the storm clouds to the east over the lake. Almost!

GOOD NEWS! Researchers at Stanford University have developed a UNIVERSAL vaccine known as GLA-3M-052-LS+OVA, that protects against a wide range of respiratory viruses, bacteria AND even allergens. The vaccine is delivered intranasally AND provides broad protection in the lungs for several MONTHS.
The reason we have “stupid rules of engagement” is to make sure we don’t bomb elementary schools.
So, what’s score now?
Moskiwitz for the win.
Oh, no! Armin is a great coach, as was Jonne. Most of the issues are structural. Like what the heck is happening in development?
This delivery driver throws treats to all the dogs on his route to see if they can catch. Spoiler alert: some of them definitely cannot. Still 13/10 for all (TT: jezzyvi)
