Pastel still life, including a nice vase bought in a shop attached to an auction house, some ranunculus flowers, alstroemeria and an iris. The dried items on the right came from a bag of pot pourri. This was probably sold at a Cambridge Drawing Society exhibition.

Photo of several relatively large (15cm high) crustose lichens on a flat, rock wall surface. The lichen in the middle is light grey with black specs. The lichens on the left and right are orange in colour. The large light grey lichen in the middle has three brown lichens growing on it that look two eyes and an open mouth…giving the grey lichen a ghost or ghoul-like appearance.

Boo! Happened upon this scary fella a few years ago on a hike here in #Newfoundland. Crustose lichens on rock. Height is about 15cm.

I did this as a commission for a woman who wanted a cartoon illustrating how she could now see Jesus cared for her as a child and affirmed her as who she was and who she would become. She had a Big Wheel that she loved to ride, so this is what I came up with and she loves it.

Smoky jungle frog, Guyana

It's hard to get a sense of scale from this, but the smoky jungle frog is the largest amphibian I've ever seen. We first saw it in Ecuador 20 years ago (my wife still refers to it simply as the "Hypnotoad"), and I had a chance to nab this photo this January in Guyana.

(Guinea pig-sized, I'd say.)
