Goblin cave WIP.
HB pencil on the back of misprint printer paper.
Just an idea at this point. Couch sketch.
To me goblins are nasty little things.
A cave full of them would be a nightmare.

Drawing, trace, transfer to watercolor paper 300, gouache value painting. WIP
I'll do some color tests in photoshop like before then go back to painting.

Thank you. Yeah but that's ok, its not without its faults. I'm glad you like it.
The Kobold and the Ghoul. Thank you. :) I've wanted to go back to the Kobold for a while, it was one of the earlier ones.
I like to draw monsters.
Snapper sketch so far
A turtle humanoid but wanted less shell . Something for swamp encounters.
Pencil on paper
Next goal is to get all the rough drawings to the color stage. Any vote on which one should be next? Right now #8 is in the lead
Views from Stronghold of the Faithful.
Tools of the trade. I could do it digitally but I'm
more compelled to use traditional materials as much as possible in my personal work these days.
10 minute poses from this weeks life drawing session.
If you are interested in drawing the figure, find somewhere where you can do it from life .
Many areas have drop in session welcome to all skill levels.

Hi Peachy! Thank you. We had so many regular looking trees I wanted one that was a little more out there.
This is the quick pen sketch that started it.
Here is my progress so far on my Orc.
I like the pig faced version.
Rough drawing, clean up lines, value block out in Gouache paint then a little color exploration in photoshop.

Thank you , that was one of the design pillars of the HoT maps, make them vertical and contain multiple layers. Tangled Depths had the surface and underground layers and even though underwater areas were being fazed out at the time I just had to add the underwater tunnels.
At first the JP only went half way up the tower but it didn't feel right, had to make it go to the top. I would of loved to have turned the JP into a race event, I added the blue flame effects (Thanks Franco!) to give it a finish line.
Pro Tip: follow the red plants if you don't know where to go.
This was one of the last jumping puzzles I was able to add to Guild Wars 2. I was brought onto the map late to help polish a few areas and bug fix but I just had to add a jumping puzzle. Depending on time would be how high I could make it.

This video by @woodenpotatoes.bsky.social really captures what I was trying to accomplish. Thank you Wooden Potatoes for making this playthrough. I really appreciate it.
Timberline Falls was the 1st map handed over to me as a World Artist on Guild Wars 2, while many map artists and designers had a part in shaping the environment it was ultimately left up to me to finish it off and build it up to the release version.

Thank you. I'm glad you like it. When starting Tangled Depths I was thinking that this could be one of the last maps added to Guild War 2 and I wanted to make sure there was enough to keep players, like myself, who love exploring something to do for a while.
Thank you , that's great :) I'm glad you like it. I tried to fill it with as many secret areas as I could before time ran out.
Thank you
Thank you. I'm glad its hanging in there.
Thank you. I only had control of the environment , I can't take credit for the chak :)
I started off as a prop artist at ArenaNet, but when the opportunity to move over to world building came up, I took the chance. This is one tree I created before switching over to world artist full time. Thankfully, itβs used in a number of locations around Tyria. Have you spotted it before?
Thank you @tiredem.bsky.social for the repost.
Thank you. There were a lot of hands in creating that map but it was ultimately tasked to me to finish it up for release. My first map I worked on when I joined the level art team.
Views from Tangled Depths. I'm glad I was given the opportunity and freedom to create this Zone. I really wanted to push what a level 80 map environment could be. I love creating underground environments, from crystal caves and lost cities to mushroom forests and hidden water passageways.
A view from Tangled Depths. One challenge of this map's layout and design was incorporating the 4 paths of the Meta event.
I'm a big fan of underground mushroom forests and am compelled to add them whenever I get the chance. Here's one I added to Tangled Depths. Journey to the Center of the Earth (1959) is an all-time favorite movie of mine and definitely influenced this level.
