Why do we have to born into this life, have hardships and through them lift ourselves up to greater awareness? Feels like a post hoc argument to justify a crappy world.

• everyone is good (yes, yes, can be lots of discussion about what we mean by “good”)
• no crime, harm or suffering
• work in the interest of society/humanity/the world/individuals living full lives

Whenever I speak to students I seem to find it impossible to mentally calibrate their age against events properly.
