Great discussions at today’s ISC meeting! 🎉
We reflected on EUROMOF 2025, shared ideas for making future conferences even better, and welcomed new committee members.
Excited for EUROMOF 2027 in Lake Como – where science meets beauty! 🌍✨

Delighted to share our recent publication on glasses derived from Hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites (HOIPs) where we investigate their water uptake behaviours and the resulting impact on electronic properties.
A big thanks to all that contributed to the work!

Great to see @aicooper.bsky.social and @rosseinskygroup.bsky.social representing @liverpooluni.bsky.social at the @euromof.bsky.social 2025 conference in Crete.
Huge congrats to Prof Matt Rosseinsky and Prof Andy Cooper who have been awarded prestigious Royal Society awards for their contributions to science🎉

📣 Meet the first of 18 oral speakers: Grace Farmer from the University of Liverpool! ✨ @gracefarmer.bsky.social
She will be sharing interesting insights on 'Ordering Bent and Straight Dicarboxylate Linkers in an fcu Zirconium Metal-Organic Framework'

I'm excited to share that my first first author paper is out! pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/...
Also we fit in a quick run-through of Diamond light source boardgame at 11pm whilst waiting for a measurement to finish (link: www.diamond.ac.uk/Public/Diamo...)
Photo of the outside of the Diamond Light Source in Harwell, UK. Taken during sunset with some clouds.
Photo of inside the Diamond Light Source, showing complicated machinery.
Photo of a glass capillary containing a white powder on a brass mount, ready for a PXRD measurement.
Finished my 4th I11 trip at Diamond, it's now been one trip per year of PhD! I would say it's been a successful trip, as we collected data on the ~200 samples we took with us + some nice VT measurements too 📈
Thanks to all who attended UKPORMAT25, and the @unibirmingham.bsky.social for hosting it.
It was great to see so many interesting talks, poster presentations and fruitful scientific discussions.
See you all next year at Bristol!
Photo showing me (small and in the bottom right corner) behind a lectern giving a talk - pointing at something and grinning, but I’ve no idea what it was.
Heading home after a great time at @rsc-pormat.bsky.social PorMat2025! Must have been practicing my jazz hands for next year’s promised karaoke…Lovely to see old friends and meet new ones, as ever - such a great community.
And as much as I love MOFs (a lot), it's always good to hear about other porous materials (PIMs, AC, PMCs, zeolites, COFs, and more). Kudos to the Birmingham organising committee for a top speaker line-up 👏
A certificate for a Porous Materials group poster prize, sponsored by the School of Chemistry at the University of Birmingham
Had a great time at UKPorMat, as usual! Lots of cool science, meeting new people, and interesting discussions in the coffee breaks ☕️ Also great to win my first poster prize too!!
***REGISTRATION EXTENDED! Final deadline 23rd May***
Caught a lovely sunset on the Mersey and Liverpool tonight! (+ spot the liverbirds in the final picture) 🌅
Still time to register for UKPORMAT! Registration closes 16th May 2025
UKPorMat is definitely worth attending if you haven't signed up already! Always got a good selection of talks (not just MOFs!)
View of fields out of a window of Kenilworth castle
Viewpoint of the ruins of Kenilworth castle including part of the great hall windows.
Green fields and some castle walls
Red and white tulips in a walled garden.
A lovely Easter Sunday trip to Kenilworth castle 🏰 Most of the fields in the 3rd pictures used to be part of a large man-make lake, (part of the castle defences). It has some interesting Tudor history too
Cheers Darren! Likewise
Great, thanks for sharing Stefano!
More Exciting news - We now have confirmed our list of Invited Speakers for the 8th Annual UK Porous Materials Conference (UKPorMat) in Birmingham 3-4 June. Oral abstracts deadline is now 21st March (this Friday!).
