Hey. Been a minute. Progress continues. Hope you all are doing well.
Arcade alley. Suspicious machines in the back. WIP as always
Painting style and color exploration. I essentially painted the same image with two different approaches to color and texture, but mostly color. Which do you favor?
Music is Radiohead + Silent Hill mashup from a dude called silenthaven_. The rest is here: youtu.be/pYypT4L7_FA?...
Good listening if you are anything like my kind of weird.
Made this artwork for fun, a bit of mild style exploration, and some practice.
From a while ago but I never really shared it anywhere #gamedev #characterdesign #indiedev #surrealism #videogame #environmentart #animation
Bear with me here.
By the by, pretty much all of the 3D animation work in AD is done by the very talented Emma Kratt. #indiegame #indiegame #gamedev #characterdesign #characterart #animationart
This is Lyra. She's central to the story. I'm likely to change some aspects of her appearance but I'm satisfied with this shot overall. Might do breakdowns of stuff like this in the future.
This may or may not have been an accident. I may or may not explain this later.
Thank you! More like Death's Door but also sort of its own thing. A level design inspiration for me was the souls games. I like how the maps in the those games branch out and loop back into themselves. They never felt too boringly linear or too overwhelmingly open.
Here's some art process for any interested. I used 3D for the background. It's actually the geometry from an alley you can see in the trailer. So linework/ sketch then colors then painting in the lighting then post-process/ color correction and stuff. Kinda added Bear (cat-thing) in the last minute.
Thought to start with the beginning on here. Or closer to it. Meaning I'm sharing one of the first concepts I did for Abstract Drift. It's from a few years ago now. Things have come a long way since then. More on this later.
