I've been at the oil change place for 5 minutes and have gotten 3 separate compliments on my bumper stickers.
Yesterday we were looking for the "Grifo" model of faucet to go with the vanity we picked out. And then I realized that grifo is Spanish for faucet.
Walking into Lowe's for the fourth time this weekend. Yaaaaaaay.
a sign with an M on it that is definitely Mario adjacent
an upside down m, also known as a "wario symbol"
I'm so used to bar bathrooms with cutesy signs that I had to stop here and ask myself if I was a Mario or a Wario
Out to breakfast with my husband and the potato pancakes at this place are pancake batter with hash browns mixed in. And I was game at first, but I want different things from my pancakes than I do from my potato pancakes. With every bite my disappointment grows.
Applesauce is pretty good though.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
> from the book, where Gideon says "did you know, if you put the first three letters of your last and first name together you get SEX PAL?" > Camilla points a dagger at Gideon "i'm gonna need you to-" and is cut off by Palamedes saying "did YOU know..." > "if you put the numbers of our houses together you get the SEX NUMBER?" > Gideon awes. Camilla is mortified. > Camilla points her second blade at Palamedes too. Gideon says, "Oi" > "that was a sick flip earlier. wanna see how *I* do a flip?" > Gideon flips Camilla off. Harrow facepalms. Camilla says, "no wonder the ninth wears face paint. they're clowns."
i didn't mean to draw Gideon as a sleeveless-hoodie dudebro but i think that's how i'll continue to picture her

Stopped into Joann Fabrics after work to grab some denim, because I want to try sashiko mending on my kid's jeans. I wait 20 minutes in line at the fabric counter and it's a 2 YARD MINIMUM. Guess I'm gonna be mending ALL the jeans.
Exactly this. Fiction DOES NOT equal reality. Just because you don't like something, doesn't give you the right to demonize others who are.
All this behaviour does is lead to puritanical ideologies. Remember, there's always going to be someone who thinks what you're into is "immoral" or "gross".
Screenshot from Tumblr user switchelsweets So one critique day, she brought in an abstract canvas with some rhinestone highlights and painted and real peacock feathers. She loved sparkles and peacock feathers so she thought sheβd try introducing them a *little*. And after everyone had given some input, the teacher gave her his advice, VERY roughly paraphrased here: βSo hereβs the thingβ¦ I do not like this style. These are just elements that do not speak to me personally, but I see that you like them, and youβre doing interesting things with them. βMy biggest critique is, I only merely *dislike* this piece. I want you to make me HATE it. Go crazy with the things that you like. Donβt hold back trying to make it palatable to people like me. Because I am NEVER going to like it. And if the audience does not like it, it should drive them crazy seeing how much YOU love it.β
Especially since they always use vague "there was an incident" phrasing. Like, I don't want some poor kid's medical details but something beyond "the police were called but everyone's fine" would be nice? IDK, I know they have to be careful what info they give it. I just don't like any of this.
We get automated calls from the school whenever there's an incident, whether that means police are involved or a student had a medical emergency, and while I appreciate the school wanting to keep parents informed it honestly just increases my anxiety.

Plasterwork of a skeleton blowing bubbles set against a pale blue wall.
I am so, so tired. And I know you are, too.
Here's βDeath blowing bubbles,β 18th century. The bubbles symbolize life's fragility. This plaster work appears on the ceiling of Holy Grave Chapel in Michaelsberg Abbey, Bamberg, Germany. After the monasteryβs dissolution, it became a hospital.
Reminder to comment on that art post or fanfic, and drop a review of that book. Telling creatives what you think, even if itβs just a one line sentence, truly does make a difference! And I donβt just mean βengagementβ. I mean it will make their day. Tell someone when you love their work π€

A dubious-looking woman in a tan trenchcoat with a very handsome tawny, black, and white owl on her arm. The woman has pale, wind-reddened skin. The owl has very orange eyes.

Everything is on fire, but everyone I love is doing beautiful things and trying to make life worth living, and I know I don't have to believe in everything, but I believe in that. - Nikita Gill
A soft, small, hopeful thing.
Brightly coloured animal crossing plushies including Cap'n, Rosie, Villager and Bunny, are placed carefully on the ground round an official heritage sign that reads "Cholera Burial ground".
For Christmas a few years ago, my mother bought me some Animal Crossing plushies. She also gave me a stack of photographs from when she'd taken these plushies on a day trip to York. My favourite one, by far, is the photo of them posing by the Cholera Burial Ground.

I've gotten Cheryl, Sandra, Susan, Cheyenne, probably a couple others I'm forgetting, but Farrah is a first. (And in the guy's defense, F and S can sound similar over the phone.)
I ordered pizza the other night and when they looked up my number in their system they asked if my name was Cheryl. Nope, it's Sarah. Guy even asked if I spelled it with an H.
I go to pick up the pizza and it's under the name Farrah.
