Mahmood of 8 yrs ago told herself and Starmer what was going to happen and they chose to go ahead and encourage racism through extreme anti-immigration policies and rhetoric. Now they need a law to try to control the genie they released-
not so easy to put it back in the bottle
This government’s extreme anti immigration rhetoric- glorifying deportations in videos, Island of strangers, incalculable damage, legitimate concerns- has caused this situation- now they need a law to seek to control what they have encouraged- disgraceful!

Jeez. This is damning
“There you have it in black and white. The Prime Minister Keir Starmer warned in the clearest possible terms that Peter Mandelson maintained his relationship [with Epstein] after the conviction.. there is no escape from this"
Not to mention smearing and misrepresenting Green policies- drugs, nato… rather than actually addressing them- there is a discussion to be had but not through creating straw men
Right thing? Dirty tricks? Starmer has used racism to chase reform, defended genocide, attacked the right to protest,
lied to & then purged the Lab party using every foul trick in the book. Nasty piece of work is our Kier. What did expect of msm? Progs have build a movement not focus grp their way
Proof that Netanyahu has been trying to stir up war with Iran for 30 years…
A stark reminder that the Blue Labour message; we have to be Reform-lite to be popular is utter, utter BS. Try having some respect for voters & see what happens! Shame they’ve burnt far too many bridges for the lesson to be learned and generalised. Time to be Green!

A symptom of the degeneration of Labour is their inability to posit any reasonable argument against an actual Green Policy. They are reduced to the gutter politics of inventing a fairy tale Green position to attack. So little respect for voters! G&D should give them a clue to how that ends.
Typical extremist! Sectarian! Sitting there suggesting countries adhere to international law! The Greens are so unreasonable! Laura really had him with ‘but what would you do to get your way instead of bombing civilians and assassinating their Head of State like any sensible person would’
Farage on ‘family voting’ amounts to him complaining that a significant number of women from Asian heritage families were prevented by male relatives from voting for Reform! His party that wants to deport them and/or their family and friends. What a weird world he inhabits.
Dear Shabana, I notice today that you referred to me in your speech on immigration at the IPPR think tank. You said: “A party leader should not be on the beaches of France encouraging people to make a perilous crossing on small boats.” I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised especially after the hateful Labour campaign in Gorton and Denton, but this is just the latest in a string of lies peddled by a discredited Government who intentionally fan the flames of racism and division. When I went to Calais, I was not there to encourage people to travel to the UK. I was there to see at first hand the suffering your Government and successive Governments have done in demonising migrants in a pathetic bid to pander to the base instincts of Reform and the flawed strategy of Morgan McSweeney. As you will know, if you even bothered to research my visit instead of taking Reform talking points, I was there to witness the brutality of families living in tents in freezing temperatures. I filled water tanks and picked up litter. What that visit did do is confirm my belief that if we are to smash the boat gangs and stop the boats, we need to offer safer and managed routes for migrants to come to this country. Showing compassion as a politician is not a crime. In fact, we need to see much more of it. It reminded me of a young MP who in October 2015 spent three days in Lesbos helping migrants fleeing war-torn Syria. She posted videos on X, talked about handing out water and croissants to refugees and food parcels. When she returned to the UK, she wrote a very moving piece in the New Statesman. She said “we have to work with our European partners and create new, safe, and legal routes for refugees to get to Europe. We cannot abandon them to their fate, left as prey for smugglers whilst risking death on the seas.” She said “maybe we can make ourselves feel better by saying no-one is making them get on the boats. And again, the Home Secretary is not entirely wrong when …
Dear Shabana,
Let's clear some things up around migration and remember we're talking about people's lives.
The is no apology necessary other than for your continued campaigning for a party enabling a govt damaging the country so badly & legitimising Reform. You appear to have good political intentions but supporting this government is self delusion- doing the same thing & expecting a different outcome.
I refer you to your comment- “to call this government guilty of moral cowardice”. Everything your ‘buddy’ reply referred to was Lab members for whom I have sympathy- having been one. Do Starmer & co have moral cowardice? It’s that or no morals at all
Looking forward to any of that having any effect on your Labour government. If it does, fair play if not it’s time to try something different as the government’s actions certainly have consequences

Sarcasm? No? Where to start??? Genocide deniers/enablers! Island of Strangers! Water Co protectors!.... Moral cowardice is putting it kindly!
Of course!
Good people still in the Labour Party; there is no hope of 'reforming' it, please join a progressive party instead and work for a better future.

The only things Churchill got right (eventually) was to fight a fascist like Trump (if for largely nationalistic reasons) and promote a union of European countries incl ECHR. Otherwise very dodgy.
The whole right wing & their supporting media is now arguing for a complete absence of international law(to accompany the dying of law within the US). The purpose of Law is equal treatment for countries/people to enable cooperation. 'Might is right' they say! How dare Zack defend international Law?
Turns out lowering bills, protecting the NHS and rebuilding our public services is really popular.
This is just the beginning - people are seeing through the attacks and demanding something better.
And we're making hope normal again - together.

10 years ago, Bernie Sanders warned America of the unintended consequences that could emerge from a regime change war with Iran. Watch.
Series of three tweets by Zoe Gardner taking down Nigel Farage's support of attacks on Iran.
Apologies to @zoejardiniere.bsky.social for crossposting her tweets from the nasty place, but I felt this deserves airtime on bluesky because of how emphatically they prove the nasty, immoral, opportunistic politics of Reform.
Not easy to see what Trump hopes to achieve. The nuclear argument is clearly nonsense. The Iranian regime is based on a huge cadre of highly organised, heavily armed, religiously indoctrinated fanatics. It's not likely they're going anywhere soon. Waiting for $bn into his Qatar account?
At least it's extremely clear which Democrat Reps and Senators the party would need to remove in order to restore law and order; those who are currently enabling Trump to break the Constitution, again.

How did we get here? Iran 1953: Eisenhower & UK block nationalised oil exports, engineer coup to depose Social Dem PM to regain oil, install Shah's unpopular authoritarian regime ultimately leading to the 1979 Islamic Revolution. 1985-7 Reagan sells arms to Iran thro Iran-Contra deal.
Eisenhower had the CIA overthrow the Social Dem Prime Minister to restore the Shah of Iran to power to regain strategic control over Iranian oil by America and Britain- which paved the way for the Islamic Revolution.
However, although fundamentally flawed he knew enough to be correct here:
"families who have survived war, persecution & unimaginable danger will face renewed uncertainty every 30 months"
Mahmood repeats far right trope that 100K refugees per yr add 'pressure to local services' designed for 70million. It's the cruelty that's the point!

It certainly fits this govt's pattern!
“Shrugging at abused and exploited children is not policy, it is moral bankruptcy. Calling proper funding ... a ‘reward’ is obscene and offensive. Protecting vulnerable children is a basic moral & legal duty of the state.”
