The war with Iran is making oil prices fluctuate wildly. What does this all mean for Alberta, a province whose budget sinks or swims on the price of a barrel? What does it mean for Canada as a whole?

Could this fresh chaos cause countries to re-evaluate their dependence on oil?

Now feels like a good time to remember that Big Oil is the reason why we're still hooked on dirty, dangerous fossil fuels.

The industry's lies have essentially stolen a generation’s worth of time that we could have used to transition to cleaner, safer energy sources.

It’s time for accountability.

Dumping tailings would never be allowed if it was Calgary's water supply at risk. The only reason this is even considered is because colonial governments (AB & CAD) think Indigenous lives are disposable & because we refuse to make companies pay to cleanup their mess properly. #ABLeg #ABPoli #CDNPoli

Alberta, Ottawa agree on deal that would see province front its own major project reviews | CBC News Ottawa and Alberta have reached an agreement that will see the province take control of regulatory approvals for major projects, something they say will deliver those projects more expeditiously.

This agreement is AWFUL. For energy projects (of national interest), Canada will defer its responsibility for impact assessments to Alberta’s captive energy regulator (the AER), despite its legacy of putting industry profits over the public interest www.cbc.ca/news/canada/... #CDNPoli #ABLeg #ABPoli

CleanUpYourMess.ca β€” Exposing Alberta's $60 billion aging well cleanup crisis Rural Albertans are being left to pay for oil companies' $60 billion cleanup bill. Share your story and help stop the Mature Asset Strategy.

Did you know that there are nearly 330,000 abandoned, unreclaimed oil & gas wells across Alberta? The golden rule is to clean up your own mess, so why doesn't that apply to oil and gas corporations? Learn more: www.cleanupyourmess.ca

It’s time for a reclamation boom YouTube video by Avi Lewis

We can have thousands of good jobs here in Alberta if we make polluters clean up their messes. Regular Albertans pay their taxes, pay their rents, and don't pollute: why shouldn't oil and gas companies do the same? Thanks Avi Lewis and Mark Dorin for speaking up!

Researchers warn of negative health outcomes from fracking in the B.C. Peace region | CBC News One Dawson Creek family physician told city council she’s seen the prevalence of rare cancers at an alarming frequency, and claims exposure to contaminants from nearby fracking is to blame.

When you hear provinces like BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan and now Nova Scotia talking up fracking, read the fine print:

The health consequences could be devastating.

Federal investment will be key to unlocking Canada's potential here.
