The big “what if” … if Russia had not invaded Ukraine then Russia would have shared in the global soft power windfall that is Trump’s destruction of American foreign influence. Russia still would have been a minor partner to China but they would have been absolutely raking it in. Now, not so much.
This is the biggest attack on free speech since the McCarthy era but it also has significantly less popular consensus behind it than the second Red Scare. It's being done on behalf of a minority faction led by the most unpopular president in modern history. Organizing against this can win.

I have varied opinions on AI but I need someone to explain to me how, when OpenAI is convicted for copying dark web libraries of copyrighted material to their servers — how is any of what they produced using those materials not covered? Wouldn’t a conviction impact any use of those materials.
I think this falls for the "voters care about policy" fallacy in a wholistic way that assumes voter policy preferences do not interact with the "voters support politicians with spines" factor, and this is a theory, that the lack of spines might be negatively impacting the Democrats.
