We'll see what the final commission is like. Tbh there's only one landscape final piece that I loathed (and I'm too polite to say which) and mostly I've been really impressed.

I think any of the 3 would produce an interesting final commission painting. I like Libby's and Tom's marginally more than Kim's because the Falkirk Wheel really stands out in theirs

Maybe it's deliberate so the judges can think about the artists' strengths in composition and colour etc rather than it being a practice run for the commission? But what would I know😂

Agreed. But as always, the judges are looking for the potential- what might they do next. The commissions they bring to the final always seem to justify the choice . We'll see...

Final 3 is pretty good, nice variety of styles but I'm a bit disappointed they didn't take a chance on Prasad #LAOTY

My first thought was irritation at the meaningless comparison of a length with an area. How is '4cm larger than surface area' calculated? This is what happens when dimensional consistency is taken out of GCSE Maths.
Think I may have given away my job there...🤓

Reckon it had potential though. Guess we'll see. But lots of green brown hillside in bright sunshine is a tough ask.
