Coincidently this has just popped in to my timeline.
No comparison.
I know I'm a philistine but that could be anywhere. It's quite pretty but not my favourite winning commission I'm afraid π #LAOTY
π
It is. Will I burn in hell for suggesting that the views from the mountain are way more interesting than views of the mountain?
We'll see what the final commission is like. Tbh there's only one landscape final piece that I loathed (and I'm too polite to say which) and mostly I've been really impressed.
I think any of the 3 would produce an interesting final commission painting. I like Libby's and Tom's marginally more than Kim's because the Falkirk Wheel really stands out in theirs
#LAOTY
Interesting commission pieces. Both Kim's and Libby's feel too much like illustration for me. Really accomplished and beautiful but not to my taste
#LAOTY
Often the case though.
Maybe it's deliberate so the judges can think about the artists' strengths in composition and colour etc rather than it being a practice run for the commission? But what would I knowπ
A generated headline for a Telegraph article by Allister Heath which reads 'Starmer's Hotpants obsession is a terrifying glimpse into our socialist future'
Always suspected the bland exterior hid niche depthsπ³
Agreed. But as always, the judges are looking for the potential- what might they do next. The commissions they bring to the final always seem to justify the choice . We'll see...
Ooo Falkirk Wheel for the final. I love that so much. It appeals to my engineer's brain and it looks brilliant too #LAOTY
Final 3 is pretty good, nice variety of styles but I'm a bit disappointed they didn't take a chance on Prasad #LAOTY
Liking Nigel's and Prasad's at the moment as well as Tom's - really pleased they brought him back
#LAOTY
Doesn't it just. How is it nearly March π³?
How is it semi final time already? #LAOTY
Fantastic! The questions on projectiles I set for my A level mechanics students are about to get much more entertainingπ§π©
Trump press conferences are like the inverse of Just A Minute - go on for ages with nothing but hesitation, decision and repetition.
Me neither. But better than it not happening.
Really difficult to make that view interesting though (in my ill educated opinion). But well see how the winner does in the next round
Tough view today. My top ones would be Elaine, Ruth and Aisleigh. They're the most interesting ones

With unexciting rides such as Oblivious, Sanctus, and the terrifying The Hart, guaranteed to elicit Howells of terror.
You must be below the stave to ride.
Lots of interesting ones tonight. For me, the shortlist would be Libby, Michael and Andrew. And maybe Tom. Feeling very indecisive today π

Screen grab from the opening ceremony of someone carrying a country name whilst wearing a crazy silver sleeping bag
About from the Dave Syndrome episode of Black Books. Manny is wearing a silver quilted jacket in a heat wave throwing polystyrene beads and pretending there's a blizzard
Loving the Black Books tribute at the #WinterOlympics opening ceremony π
My first thought was irritation at the meaningless comparison of a length with an area. How is '4cm larger than surface area' calculated? This is what happens when dimensional consistency is taken out of GCSE Maths.
Think I may have given away my job there...π€
Reckon it had potential though. Guess we'll see. But lots of green brown hillside in bright sunshine is a tough ask.
Dan, Scott, Alison and Chris are the ones I like today

Fantastic wild card winner π #LAOTY
