February 26, 2026 Dear members of the Columbia community: This morning at approximately 6:30 a.m., federal agents from the Department of Homeland Security entered a Columbia Residential building and detained a student. We are working to gather more information, working to reach the family, and providing legal support. Our understanding at this time is that the federal agents made misrepresentations to gain entry to the building to search for a "missing person." We are working to gather more details. It is important to reiterate that all law enforcement agents must have a judicial warrant or judicial subpoena to access non-public areas of the University, including
It is important to reiterate that all law enforcement agents must have a judicial warrant or judicial subpoena to access non-public areas of the University, including housing, classrooms, and areas requiring CUID swipe access. An administrative warrant is not sufficient. If law enforcement agents seek entry to non-public areas of the University, ask the agents to wait to enter any non-public areas until contacting Public Safety. Public Safety will contact the Office of the General Counsel to coordinate the University's response. Do not allow them to enter or accept service of a warrant or subpoena. We will update our community as additional information becomes available. Sincerely,

Don't really care for using the MoH as a partisan prop ngl
Trump takes credit for lower crime rates in Washington, DC after sending federal troops last year.
Fact check: Since peaking in 2023, D.C. violent crime fell in 2024, before Trump took office, and has continued to fall at similar rates before and after federal intervention.
democrats should internalize that this is what their colleagues think of them and act accordingly

Walked out of the State of the Union because I couldnβt sit through hours of Trumpβs lies.
Americans know the truth: heβs spiking prices and wrecking our economy.
Weβre a better country than this.
Identifying an active duty Night Stalker by name at the State of the Union is wild.
Well-deserved Medal of Honor, but itβs extremely dangerous to out members of JSOC like that

Trump celebrating that they changed the name of Fort Bragg back to once again honor Braxton Bragg, a white supremacist traitor who waged war on the United States so he could keep owning other human beings, and whose incompetence as a general was matched only by his cruelty to his own soldiers

On Oct 18, more than 7 million of us rose at more than 2,700 events in all 50 states, DC, and cities worldwide to say: America has no kings, and the power belongs to the people. Now, our task is to stay vigilant, stay united, and continue to push back. https://www.nokings.org/
Even Fox News is telling Trump to pump the brakes on accusing SCOTUS of being controlled by foreign actors, reminding him he has other "big cases" before the court.
John Yoo: "I think President Trump would be wise to no longer call the justices somehow tools of foreign influence."
Your occasional reminder that Trump launched a pack of lunatics through the halls of congress howling for the blood of his own vice president
Contrary to the βemptied out Midwestβ narrative, data show Midwest population trends mirror long-run shifts across the US, not a collapse caused by free-market policies, Cato scholars explain. Basing policy on a false story wonβt revive manufacturing or growth.

Special thanks to the five small businesses owners who brought this case when others were afraid and saved the progressive income tax from Trumpβs dumb scheme to replace revenues with tariffs.

I wish Americans could really see & feel what it's like in a newsroom. The care. The effort. @sallyjenx.bsky.social captures it here: www.theatlantic.com/culture/2026...
I left The Washington Post last year, but wrote my love letter in the middle of my time there, in 2015.
Everything changed, over my 1st decade there. Then everything changed again, in the decade after this was written. But there were 2 constants: the work & the people. www.mrdanzak.com/blog/10years
