A light brown & white Brittany Spaniel stands by me at the game table.
At tonight's Daggerheart game at the game club here, we had Sparrow visit our table several times. She's a very good girl.
I saw Evil Dead in β85, at a small college party. And I was an immediate fan.
His Elvis and Ossie Davis as JFK made Bubba Ho-Tep the best movie set in East Texas (where I grew up).
A 1993 poster for Brisco County Jr with Bruce Campbell in the center holding a pistol and holding a Colt pistol.
Of the shows few people watched, the sci-fi western Brisco County Jr is one of my favorites, a one season show. I loved The Wild Wild West as a kid, so it was an easy watch. And, hey, Bruce Campbell.
The creators Jeffrey Boam & Carlton Cuse have a bit of credβDead Zone, Last Crusade, The Strain.
That makes sense. My daughter started tabling last year, and the bigger cons were okay. But her comics werenβt moving like at smaller cons. Even at a larger comics-focused con like Baltimore, we heard from many sales werenβt what they expected. But layoffs & econ concerns might explain that one.
Iβm looking forward to our first tabling at Awesome Con. But weβre driving 44 miles to & from DC each day. We might wish we had gotten a hotel. The gas might cost more than the hotel. π
Why have they become less effective in promoting comics?
What is the Four Seasons Landscaping scene there? From the ballroom work?
Iβm locked in on the important things. ;)
Also, evil characters donβt have to be smart. Willing to do what others wonβt is sometimes all the advantage they need.
Some Buffy the Vampire art.
Itβs cool people continue to enjoy this show/character. The New Sunnyvale series hoped gets a release date soon.
Now as for Xenaβ¦.
Just because you can make something doesnβt mean you should
Wholly agree. I've long appreciated Josh's writing & coverage. Some prominent voices trade on anger, and I've cut them out. Josh isn't that.
She's not done by any means.
Also, though some votes remain to be counted, Democratic voters outnumbered R voters by 203,204 in a meaningful senate primary for both parties with 23% of reg voters turning out.
Another good sign for change in November.
Itβs like no one remembered or looked at the 80s & oil prices. Everyone quickly learned where Strait of Hormuz was.
Surely theyβre not so stupid to think this helps their Venezuelan oil shipments & oil companies. Iβm not conspiracy minded, but nothing would surprise me with this administration.
I would have voted for Crockett were I still there, though I dislike her crypto votes. I'd be please either. But I'm energized by her.
Now in TX 33, screw Allred. Julie Johnson has done good work in that area for a few years as a solid liberal & deserves to continue.
A tangle of cedar branches covered in todayβs light snow
From her work area on the 3rd floor, my wife snapped this photo of the lightly snow-covered blue atlas cedar outside our townhome.
From my office on the bottom floor, I only see people shuffling on the street, asking βwhatβs the matter with you, boy.β
Good deep cut.
A random interview turns into a cool family history.

Super Jersey Expo had to cancel for 2026 due to snow & ice damage to the venue with no viable alternative in the area.
So, Grace & I will be at the Brooklyn Independent Comics Showcase that weekend--April 18 & 19. It's a huge gathering of indie comic creators.

My character for the Dracon Delve adventure, which we're running on Roll20. I didn't want a realistic or anime style.
Since we leveled to 3, I went with the new Path of the World Tree subclass & will hand out temp hit points while raging. A healing barbarian. ;)
How long before Altman suggests using people as power sources for AI?

Another court loss for Trump who tried to shut down 5 MD wind projects. The region needs more energy & lower costs.
But other wind projects are blocked likely for next 3 years. Yet another area where Trump is causing damage thatβll take years to recover from.

It never seemed anything other than a rhetorical tactic, not an actual principle. Like fretting about the deficit but only under a Democratic president.
a graph of Tarrant county early voting for primaries in 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024, and 2026 after 3 days of early voting. 2026 has far more early votes at this stage than any other year, and it's the only one with more Democratic votes.
This is a nice comparison of the Tarrant vote numbers after 3 days of EV across primaries for the last 5 elections. It's not just a higher Democratic turnout than the fascists, but it's a higher turnout overall.
This is a good definition of stupid: Buying a totally crap product just to spite critics at the cost of $70,000-110,000.
There's no reason to buy this POS except to say you like Elon.
Buddy Holly doesn't get old.
Is there some specific cause tying all them? Or itβs the nature of that spectrum endβprecarious finances? Or more general economic problems making it harder for many?
Texas media generally favors Abbott, as with Perry. Theyβve sucked at covering the D candidate.
But the polls are better for Gina than weβve seen in a loooong time for a Dem gubernatorial candidate.
Abbott is dicking over Texans. They finally be tired of him.
In 2022, 60+% Dem voter turnout would likely have won them a senate seat. Hard in an off election but possible.
I think thatβs true this year, but 55% turnout might do it.
Either Crockett or Talarico would be good. But Crockett is who Texas and Democrats need.
