I truly thought I was missing something. You're the only one on Letterboxd who I follow who hasn't given it a perfect 5 Stars. It was just a bit average.
The whole movie does have a sort of "magic is real but just out of sight" thing going on. She's pseudo-witchy with her plants, spells, medicine.
At the same time, it's a "true period piece" with the real Shakespeare and family so magic can't be real because it's not real in real life.
