You need to know that these people laughed while I sobbed and told them my child was not safe with her father, begged them to at least let me take her. Laughed in my face.

What kept me going while I was so cold I couldn't sleep, so cold I pasted toilet paper over the vents of my cell secretly. Broke rules to double up clothing. Wasn't allowed to shower more than 1x a week, was given 2 pads to last 3 days for my period, was not allowed out of my group cell for a week.

I was almost one of these except I would lay on my bed shivering repeating my daughter full name and replaying the first time she said, "Butterfly" in my head. Over and over.
I'm not allowed to say what I want to happen to these people either.
I did not come home the same mother I was previously.
