It is! I wish I liked the yarn better - it gets fuzzy with handling, which is not really what silk stockings should do. :/

Heh, no, it's just a stocking and they always have a second verse, same as the first. ;)
The start of a knit stocking cuff in teal silk. Maybe 2 cm of broken stitch ribbing on a circular needle. In the background is a purple blanket and a zip-closure bag with the skein being knit from, a small tin with stitch markers, and the second circular (to be used when the decreases make working on one impossible).
Second verse, you know the rest... π§Ά
The Right says "don't take things so seriously, it's all a joke, we're having fun here" and it's easy (and not incorrect!) to point out how it's an attempt to hid their hand. But they're also trying to nurture this fundamental frivolity because it makes people easy marks
This is an entire thread full of trans authors - mostly independent - writing across all sorts of genres
It's difficult to get trans stories published these days; the huge media corps aren't even looking anyone but the big names right now. We put our stories out where we can
Ditto, but for me it was pork. My dad would cook thin cut chops to dry, tough, husks. The first time I had a properly cooked thick chop (because my then-fiance's dad made them for Christmas dinner and I didn't think I could refuse) I was *so* surprised. Turns out, I love pork!
A man's hand holding a metal cup with bright pink Cream Soda pouring from a can with just the barest hints of pink showing at the edge of the photo.
So..huh. In Canada, Cream Soda is *shockingly* neon bubble gum pink.
Dear goddesses, how I love @tkingfisher.com when she goes on for a bit about chickens in books! I started listening to Hemlock & Silver and the part about the roosters nearly caused me to cause an accident laughing! #booksky
Reminder that the ICE surge in Chicago - a city five times bigger than Minneapolis - was 300 agents. So this is still unprecedented.
I did it! And still more gusset decreases to go, but every row is one closer to finished.
It's KnitPick's Luminance mulberry silk. :)
The tail end of a wound ball of teal silk yarn on the left and a piled partially knit stocking from the same yarn on the right. Two pair of red corded circular needles are attached to the stocking. All is laying atop a purple blanket on the lap of the knitter.
Tonight's goal is to finish the first skein, which might get me through the gusset decreases. There's always more in those last winds than I think there is. π§Ά
*yoink*! <3
Well, in more pleasant news, the Fish Doorbell is back... π§ͺ
heeheehee, my book goblin says
Answer me these riddles 3 & I might grant a BATH to thee
What crosses swamps & meadows too, so none a car be flecked with goo
What must we house & leave to chill, for let them loose & they will kill
The rains will come upon thy city, install these to keep it pretty
They have been phenomenal in helping me get the needles! I wish I could claim them as my LYS! <3
Super thankful to Crafty Llama (www.etsy.com/shop/CraftyL...) for being willing to ship Hiyahiya knitting needles to the US. I ordered extras in two lengths (16 & 24 inches, because the needle on the 24 inch is substantially longer) in both US 4-0 (1.2 mm) & 5-0 (1.0 mm) in case I break one. π§Ά
I was skeptical about Leigh Bardugo's The Familiar when I started listening to it - the writing didn't seem complex enough to evoke the richness and depth of the world building behind the Grishaverse as I'd seen it come to life (I've not read the books yet). I couldn't have been more wrong. #booksky

*sigh* s/gabbed/grabbed.
I've yet to read anything by @lilithsaintcrow.com that hasn't gabbed me with both hands & refused to let go. Just finished Rattlesnake Wind, but only because I forced myself not to stay up until blue this morning to finish it. Dark, mysterious, tenderly beautiful reimagining of Russian folk stories.
The U.S. is a country that is unable to handle death but is awash in it. A country with people who often can't process grief. These are terrible things.
I came back to see if they'd answered yet because I'd love to know!
Interesting! But far too bulky for my tastes, unfortunately.
The leg of a teal knit silk stocking. The stocking has a back seam pattern, visible at the bottom edge and a side detail, but you can also see a slight indent in the fabric where the stitch marker was placed to mark where decreasing stops. The indent is caused by the slight extra gap between the stitches caused by the stitch marker and should block out when the stocking is washed.
For the Eleanora pair, though, I'll try that - even my smallest stitch markers will be too big at that gauge. Even in these you can see in the stockinette where the markers were, which I expect to even out when washed and blocked, but I can't risk accidentally adding a stitch-width on those.
I worried about that, but also figured on a heel it's less likely to be noticed once they're washed and blocked? The weight isn't much - the chain is only ever on the needle and each individual marker is pretty light. I guess I'll see on these and learn from it either way, though!
The most punk heel flap ever! A knit heel flap in teal silk with small single loop safety pin style stitch markers in the center of the heel flap marking every fourth row. The remaining markers needed to count the total rows for the heel flap are hanging from a separate stitch marker. The markers are color-coded in groups of 5 (20 rows).
I've been seeing photos of folks using stitch markers as row counters (or that's what they seem like at least) and since I hate row counting for heel flaps (especially 68 row heels flaps in small gauge) I decided to try it. I'm not sure I'm sold, but I do like not having to try to count the rows! π§Ά
That's amazing! If you inspire me to document mine, I'll let you know so you can go shopping!
In my day dreams, this would be why I'd put my stash on Ravelry and try to do trades with people who have things in *their* stash that I want, but .. my stash is definitely not in Ravelry, so..
Best wishes for finding some way to live things up!
