the criminal overworking and underpayment of people in caring professions is one of the worst societal problems in america. if every consultant disappeared tomorrow it would have zero effect on anything real. if every home health aide disappeared then hundreds of people would die
and 23k is basically a miserable amt of money to live on, in a big city you can easily lose half of that to rent and utilities.
home health aide making 23k a year is so bleak bc that's about how much i make in a year drawing pictures and doing some part time job where i scoop ice cream or sweep popcorn off the floor. as opposed to working full time hours compressed into 2 days a week making sure an elderly person doesn't die
morning people have had it too good for too long
big problem in my life is that my body seems to naturally want to go to sleep around 4am and i have to try really hard to set a different bedtime. i can absolutely do it but it takes continued effort
peak
i usually use the same font for everything in the comic or just draw the text by hand but i broke that rule here bc i really had to use papyrus
quick milo
(wearing a fake mustache) oh yeah i definitely think so

also what ticks me off about some of these podcasts after a while is how many of them inevitably degrade into "chilling with friends". or edutainment podcasts where the scope and the audience increase greatly but the quality of research never does
i feel like even minor podcasters tend to attract kind of sycophantic behavior from fans vying for their attention and if i were the subject of that it would make me so obnoxious so quickly
also a lot of podcasters do gradually become annoying if their full time job is "podcaster"
i cycle through so many. i feel like it's shockingly easy for me to become parasocially resentful of total strangers in the context of podcasts specifically. maybe it's that i'm hearing their voices in a conversational context
feels like they continually poke fun at the book by implying that it makes completely different arguments than it does
not a perfect book but in no way something that deserves to be placed in the same context as like, rich dad poor dad. also they totally ignore that graeber explicitly states that he does not regard all service jobs/non-manufacturing jobs as "bullshit jobs".
they all send emails exactly like my old landlord who was a white rapper
Radio lab: between 1890 and 1980, before computers, what were doctors in hospitals writing on their clipboards? They were drawing pictures of their imaginary pony. And for almost 100 years 92% of doctors named their pony βApricotβ. The reason why? Itβs kind of a long story,
setup a barebones gofundme, feel embarassed to even ask, but i can't go on being apart from my spouse anymore or constantly worrying about my future as a queer woman in america. please help share. gofund.me/93a45b185
if you have a little cat, making up stupid shit to say to your cat is nigh unavoidable
the beginning of the song sister jack by spoon goes "always on the outside always looking in" and i sing it to my cat but change "outside" to "snoutside"
calendar of holidays i have devised to celebrate my cat:
soft paw sunday
meow meow monday
tiny guy tuesday
wet beast wednesday (i did not originate the phrase "wet beast wednesday" but it is fitting because he drools)
triangle ears thursday
little friend friday
snout boy saturday
thinking about "cousin games" of my childhood. simpsons hit and run. halo: reach. destroy all humans. wipeout for the wii

wow now i feel out of touch. i didn't know there *were* aliexpress bootleg fursuits
It's Happening Again
i have to give them credit, that's a real fursuit and not a mascot suit they rented from a costume store
