Stormy space weather may be garbling messages from aliens, new research suggests Researchers who listen for signs of non-human life say signals β€˜can slip below detection thresholds, even if it’s there’

Some more reporting on the study released last week from Dr. Vishal Gajjar and colleagues, which they also shared during the IAU symposium on "Advancing the Search for Technosignatures" hosted by Blue Marble Space.

Has Earth received any radio signals from aliens? – Sciworthy Scientists with the SETI@home project analyzed 14 years of radio wave data collected by the Arecibo Telescope and identified 92 signals that warrant further investigation.

Scientists affiliated with the SETI@home project identified 92 incoming radio signals that could potentially be from alien technology. The 4th in our series of articles for IAUS 404: Advancing the Search for Technosignatures!

Artist's impression of rocks on a barren ocean floor, devoid of life, tectonism, or volcanic activity. Europa's seafloor is probably a bit like this, but in absolute darkness (which doesn't make for all that compelling a picture).

New paper alert!

tl;dr: the seafloor of Europa is probably tectonically inert, meaning little to no active fracturing that could expose fresh rock to seawater.

Without such water–rock reactions the prospect for there being life within Europa just took a big hit.

OK, this is wild.

In September 2023, geophysicists across the world started monitoring a very odd signal coming from the ground under them.

It was picked up in the Arctic. And Antarctica. It was detected everywhere, every 90 seconds, as regular as a metronome, for *nine days*.

What the HELL?
