Loving these Tekkon Kinkreet art shares, with additional background ( pun intended ) information by the director of the film himself. 🥲

The Cherry Blossoms season is upon us and my timeline is starting to fill with beautiful snaps taken by folks in Japan. Here's a couple I've enjoyed shooting during my years living in Tokyo and also on subsequent visits. See more in my posts- halcyonrealms.com/travel/tokyo...

Totally agree. Yoji Shinkawa and his art team really did an amazing job. I know it's all made-up stuff, but it is even more manifest when you're playing the game and seeing the functionality of the tech ( with all the moving parts, etc ) in action.
The cover art for the 4K UHD release of Jin-roh : The Wolf Brigade (1999) releasing later this month (Mar 25) has been revealed. Comes with Eng subs.
I'm definitely picking it up and will post more pictures when I get my copy-

Now writing the book review for 'The Art Of #DeathStranding2 : On The Beach'. In another life, concept artist Yoji Shinkawa would have made a killer fashion designer. 🥲

love love love this game, especially the OST. I do daydream sometimes about a present day remake and how stunning the visuals might look ( not that the original wasn't amazing ).
The Criterion release of Jonathan Glazer’s BIRTH (2004) dropped to $32 and I pulled the trigger. Very excited to immerse in the late DP Harris Savides' haunting cinematography in glorious 4K UHD for the very first time as well as the extra features - amzn.to/4l6VcXR
With the excellent Gorillaz animated short film making the rounds I wanted to remind fans that Jamie Hewlett has an excellent art book packed full of his gorgeous art, but it's currently out of print and going for like $600.
Anyway, here's my review of the book - halcyonrealms.com/books/jamie-...
I've totally forgotten that Masaaki Yuasa also did some character design and concept art work for one of my fav anime shorts of all time, Studio 4°C's 'Noiseman Sound Insect' (1997). These can be found in the book as well -
Thanks to @catsuka.bsky.social for the heads up on the re-print for Masaaki Yuasa's 'Sketchbook for Animation Projects' (2014). I know many fans have been trying to get hold of a copy ever since it went out of print, so great news ! Check out my review- halcyonrealms.com/anime/masaak...
PINOCCHIO : An Illuminated Edition ( Beehive Books ) features gorgeous art work by Hellboy artist Mike Mignola and annotations by Lemony Snicket. Really lush, beautiful printing. Big hardcover, 264 pages.

Seriously never thought #KPOPDEMONHUNTERS would get a physical media release, let alone on Criterion ! This would be the first film I've worked on in the collection. 🥲
And now all I can think about is what the cover art would look like. And all the making of special features !
An English edition of Q-Hayashida's 'Mud And Sludge' for Dorohedoro will be out on Sep 22nd. I reviewed the Japanese edition a while back and can wholeheartedly recommend - halcyonrealms.com/books/mud-an...
The XXL monograph art books by Taschen always burn a big hole in my pocket but all of them are well worth the price. One of the latest ones I got is 'The Fantastic Worlds of Frank Frazetta' (2022). Very highly recommended; see more in my review - halcyonrealms.com/books/the-fa...
Castle Urquhart depicted here by David Young Cameron from around 1920, is situated on Strone Point, south west of Inverness. It was given to Clan Grant in 1509, but was destroyed during the Jacobite rebellion.
Phenomenal shot. RIP.
