Phillips has gone 15-42 (35.7%) from 3 which is tied w/ NJJ behind Adrien Stevens.

Phillips is shooting an awful 35.7% from the FT line.

I think Keeyan wanted a bigger role but I’m pretty sure he would have had a good 20 minutes per game at Marquette as a rim protector and rim runner.

Last couple of minutes have been frenetic for both UConn and #mubb.

A lot of motion and no progress.

At the 2H U12, #mubb leads by 8, 55-47.

At the 2H U12, #mubb is defying the odds and leads UConn, 51-45.

Biggest difference is Marquette is (+3) in the turnover battle and an 11-5 advantage in points off turnovers since UConn was up 9-0 in that metric.

This had to be either the Chase across the top of the key OR Damarious catching the inbounds and then throwing it out of bounds.

At the 2H U16, #mubb trails UConn, 43-41.

Caedin Hamilton with some good minutes. Finishing twice at the rim for 4 points. Hamilton also had a rebound and played solid D.

Quite a few stats that don’t bode well for the 2H:

UConn has outshot #mubb 36-22 primarily because of a (+14) rebounding advantage including (+11) on the offensive boards.

UConn is (+9) second chance points.

UConn is (+10) points in the paint.

UConn is (+9) points off turnovers.

UConn leads #mubb at the half, 35-33.

A few thoughts:

No surprise, great minutes by the freshmen backcourt. NJJ and Stevens have 22 of the 33 points for Marquette.

They also have 4 of the 8 turnovers for Marquette.

At the U4, UConn has a 27-24 lead over #mubb.

Marquette has been more loose with the ball and is only (+1) in the turnover battle.

UConn is (+5) points off turnovers, (+10) points in the paint, and (+8) second chance points.

Not good.

At the U8, #mubb & UConn are tied at 21.

I really like the defense from Marquette. Multiple examples of “matching hands” during on-ball defense. NJJ, Adrien & Damarious all have deflections “matching hands” with the ball handler at the pass point.
