A holiday tradition since 1859
This project seeks to 1) Identify how individual cell
types contribute to population-specific hypoxia responses in the placenta and 2) Dissect the genetic regulatory variants (including ERV structural variants!) that underlie cell type specific transcriptional responses to hypoxia!
The Sudmant Lab & Wilsterman Lab are hiring a postdoc! Come work on the genetics and evolution of the placenta and dissecting genetic adaptations to altitude in deer mice!

Exactly how I feel about mine :) - letβs just both admire graham coop and Jonathan Pritchardβs efforts and slink away :)
Is this your class? Are ur lecture notes / slides public? Always looking for inspiration :)
The Sudmant lab at UC Berkeley is seeking a postdoc to work on a fully funded NIH project to understand differences in DNA repair and somatic mutation across the primate tree of life. Please spread widely to those who may be interested aprecruit.berkeley.edu/JPF05052
Such an incredible accomplishment! The Rocha lab is set to be a fantastically innovative, creative, and supportive environment for any trainees! I cannot wait for the amazing science to come! Congratulations!!!! π½ππ¦π§¬
I am thrilled to announce that in January 2026 I will be starting my own lab at NYU Biology! Soon enough I will be recruiting postdocs and students! Please reach out if you are interested with a CV and description of your research interests, or if you know of people who could be interested! π§¬π½ π¦
Thrilled for your next adventures Manny!
PSA - Manny is already a seasoned mentor, a super creative and engaged scientist, and a thoughtful and caring colleague. A great opportunity for any grad student / postdoc / technician / undergraduate!
I'm proud to announce that the Vazquez Lab will officially be opening its doors at Penn State in August 2025! The lab will be studying the evolution of longevity-associated traits and the gene regulatory networks that govern them across extraordinarily long-lived mammals at all levels of life.
If you have been affected by the fires in LA, or are concerned about your ability to keep precious Drosophila strains going during the latest funding crisis, we will host your strains as a backup. Please email me.
Please amplify. If you are also able to host fly strains, add your name as well.
Preprint is out! We investigated the genomic diversity and evolutionary history of Anopheles funestus mosquitoes, one of the main species transmitting human malaria across Africa. Hereβs a visual summary. Art by @petrathepostdoc.bsky.social . 1/8 www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

GINA does not protect life insurance, long term care or disability insurance
One example: you have a variant (perhaps not yet discovered) that increases your risk of mortality to some degree (could be large or small). Your data is sold and now used by insurance companies and you and kids can not get life insurance.
