I literally have skin in the game.
I work in this complex. I have received literally thousands of death threats in the past six months. Many of them egged on by Kirk, Libsoftiktok, and other right wing accounts.
I expect to be one of the people this all gets much worse for sooner than later.
a lot of people on the right are going to be pretending to be concerned about guns and political violence today. as it happens, this was just published today about how the present administration is handling gun violence in DC during a hostile occupation it claims it is doing for "safety" reasons
Charlie Kirk on mass shooting victims: 'We cannot allow them to emotionally hijack the narrative'
Sign the Petition Demanding the Senate Pass Expanded Background Checks Expanding background checks on gun sales is a commonsense reform that we know would protect children from gun violence. But it's been a year since the House of Representatives passed this bipartisan legislation, and the Senate still hasn't voted on this critical legislation.
Hey I know a great way we can ALL honor the life of #CharlieKirk and his influence!
By signing this petition through the Sandy Hook Promise, operated by the parents of the Sandy Hook victims, to support gun violence legislation nationwide! takeaction.sandyhookpromise.org/a/preventsch...
Killing people we disagree with is wrong in every way, whether itβs Melissa Hortman or Charlie Kirk. This is especially true in a country awash with guns and run by fascists looking to amplify their already militarized policies.
No thoughts and prayers. Down with fascism and up with gun control.
"I think empathy is a made up New Age term that does a lot of damage" - Charlie Kirk
this reminds me of the period in american politics when pundits would demand that any black politician of note βΒ really, any black person in politics with a national audience βΒ βcondemn farrakhanβ
what is great about this review is that the author is clearly sympathetic to the premise but canβt get past the basic fact that the author is a vacuous fool www.theguardian.com/books/2025/j...

β’ Mamdani is not in the country illegally
β’ He does not have any connection to 9/11 or jihadist terrorism
β’ Mamdani hasnβt actually said or done anything antisemitic
β’ He did not call to βglobalize the intifadaβ
β’ Heβs not a communist
This is why they didnβt want him back: He is a witness.
May as well wear swastika t-shirts
Precisely. Grow up.
As ever, the Republican platform is simple: they want to sexually abuse children, and they want you to pay for it.
There's a person on Twitter who for years ended every single tweet, easily thousands of them, with "Moreover, lCE must be abolished" and I've never seen someone so vindicated in their commitment
It continues to make me sad that Ro Khanna used VC and tech money to push Mike Honda out of Congress. Honda was a childhood Japanese internee who became a high school teacher, congressman, and staunch ally of labor and LGBTQ ppl. Khanna is β¦ wooing a white supremacist anti-trans bigot for his money.
They stopped laughing quick.
Good article, but I disagree we are "no longer" a nation who bla bla. Those were the myths. When you write:
"Perhaps we will never again be able to see ourselves as the greatest nation on earth"
We never were. I mean, extra rights for white males was baked into our founding laws, after all.
Jessica Ramos & @jessicaramosqns People may want to be courteous to Cuomo's face but they don't forget the people he sent to die, the women he touched or the people he left in our streets needing mental health care and housing. Emily Ngo @emilyngoβ’ 3/23/25 β’@andrewcuomo got loud applause when he was here, but now when @jessicaramosqns says he closed down mental health facilities, some in crowd boost the comment, one telling her, "Say it again!" 6:01 PM β’ 3/23/25 β’ 11K Views
Per the New York Times, Jessica Ramos is endorsing Andrew Cuomo for New York City Mayor today.
Hereβs what she said about Cuomo in March below.
In April, she said his βmental acuity is in declineβ and that New Yorkers could not afford a βJoe Biden momentβ at City Hall.
I deeply relate to this @debolinunferth.bsky.social essay on her relationship to the stipend academics sometimes still get for research. www.theparisreview.org/blog/2025/05...
As I've said before, I don't link to or share your story if you don't link to the documents. I'll literally go find the case myself or find another story that does share the documents rather than encourage this behavior, which is anti-educational and poor journalism.
This is why I hate when white people say βstop making everything about raceβ cause everything literally is about race and they started it.
What does China offer that the United States doesn't? Small hands, a massive, seasonal work force and millions of engineers. Young Chinese women have small fingers, and that has made them a valuable contributor to iPhone production because they are more nimble at installing screws and other miniature parts in the small device, supply chain experts said. In a recent analysis the company did to explore the feasibility of moving production to the United States, the company determined that it couldn't find people with those skills in the United States, said two people familiar with the analysis who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
like I dunno maybe if you are going to state something weird and racial about half the population of a country of 1.4 billion people you should have⦠a (?) source ? ??

Lucky me, getting to talk to one of my favorite writers and people and drink a lot of sazeracs
My friend Cary Darling at Houston Chronicle asked if Ryan Coogler's film Sinners' evocative use of blues music might make the genre cool for young people, especially Black folks. I recalled how Spike Lee did exactly that for bebop in the 90s and he quoted me in this piece: loom.ly/NzYxUUE
