Hedgehog house
Took delivery of 2 rescue hedgehogs this evening. Born too late to hibernate but now a chunky pair that I hope will enjoy the habitat here. I bet they never use the house after tonight!
Male Emperor Moth
Emperor Moth in my garden
Marsh Capet and Emperor Moth mugs
As the moth season ramped up a gear this week, my mugs from @moffstuff.bsky.social arrived. The Marsh Carpet one was an obvious choice for me, but I couldn't resist the Emperor one so had to get both

Just completed #biggardenbirdwatch. 17 species, from Blackbird, Robin and Blue Tit to Reed Bunting, Pheasant and Ring-necked Parakeet. Blue tits clearing out the nest box. Stock Dove inspecting the Tawny box Not long till Spring
RSPS Strumpshaw Fen
Strumpshaw Fen
Beautiful but cold day at Strumpshaw Fen
I'm having the electricity extended further in a few weeks, hopefully with outside timer sockets with that very thought in mind π .
I get the feeling that I need to add a 3rd trap as my garden is a bit bigger than yours and I ONLY have one mv and one actinic....but that would add to the trap-opening time required π« but it also might catch the rare ones I miss...
Strumpshaw Fen
After yesterday's flooding and trail closures at RSPB Strumpshaw Fen, the water levels have dropped and both Fen Hide and Tower Hide have re-opened. Still a bit muddy.
Common Quaker
Common Quaker to MV tonight - that mild spell must have confused it, though I had one 8 December last year too
Great pic Ron
December moths
A few of the 46 December Moths in the traps/on the wall this morning...my previous highest count was 34 in 2023
Mine are on outside. With bricks as well as egg boxes. Fingers crossed
I am missing both Sprawler and Streak this year - neither are common in my garden but....
I wasn't expecting a fresh Pebble Hook-tip last night but this has been a strange year for late records
Lovely autumnal colour to the beech hedge at the bottom of the garden, with brambles and honeysuckle coming over from the land beyond
