IN MY DEFENSE I am old and my screen was zoomed in for larger print size than this, so I didn't see below the fold, but look at this nonsense.
Real talk: the stupid AI overview on the search engine has misled me and I am the dumb-dumb who didn't keep scrolling for proper website answers, that's on me.
Honestly it's a great question because they're similar distances. As long as we're making stuff up, we might as well make up a more outrageous threat to national security.
I really hope my case manager is sending me for these tests to check some items off a necessity list and not because she is mistaken about what my conditions are. I've already checked several times so I have done all I can but it weirds me out that the doctors I'm sent to are also confused.
It went fine but the doctor was just as confused as to why I'd been sent for a test of my physical capabilities as I was. (Because all my issues are mental health related.) We did the things, I cried, he was perfectly nice about it. We had to wait for over an hour to be seen and I am very tired.
Okay I'm going to my consultative exam for SSDI so please wish me luck and the ability to explain my condition in a way that makes a neurotypical stranger understand me.

I always hated this. You can't cap the salary of an essential job of your company and expect that job to be done well. Anyone who's good at that job is also smart enough to realize they're fucked if they stay in it. You have to give people money for being good at what they do.

I used to travel to Barcelona for work, and it was infuriating how much better it is to live in a city where there's a grocery store and a subway stop on every other block.
Why would you voluntarily sign up for a company like Amazon to have data on your comings and goings? Why would you sign up to have Amazon be able to listen in on your conversations just so you can tell Alexa to play your music instead of clicking two buttons? We give up so much for so little.
Every use case for a Ring camera is better done by having a relationship with your neighbors. If you're really concerned about burglary, than one of those alarm systems that actually sends people to investigate. A camera just makes you FEEL like you're in control of the situation, but you aren't.
I have been wondering about this for ages. When Ring did the terrible commercial people asked for alternatives. Why ... do you need one? Being able to see your front porch does nothing for you. You can't stop the porch thief from afar. Police don't GAF. What do you think is making you safer?
After revelations that companies like Ring have been selling home security footage to ICE, the most common defense of keeping a camera up seems to be, “But what if I’m stalked?”
And as a violence researcher, I’m just here to state for the record that police do not care about your security footage.
