Dublin builds too many hotels β and nowhere near enough homes.
The Greens want to change the city tax system to fix that.
Double the tax on new hotels, use the money to cut tax on new homes. ποΈποΈποΈ

This is right! And if it's in Dublin, there is virtually zero chance that a full time AirBnB is legal. We've made it very restrictive to get planning permission if it can be used as a home.

In the depths of a housing crisis, Dublin needs homes, not AirBnBs.
Managed to get an application for a full-time AirBnB in the Liberties rejected so that it'll be a home instead.
If you know of an illegal AirBnB in your area, drop me a message and we'll get on it.

Darragh OβBrien drafts in state agencies to find solutions to traffic congestion in the capital
Transport Minister βnot writing anything offβ in bid to ease problem in urban areas
Has he considered not shelving rail projects? Not cutting funding for expansion of public transport could be worth looking at too.

Found: a foldable e-bike in the linear park in Rialto. Battery was empty so suspect it was stolen and then dumped. Seems in good working order.
If you know the owner, drop me a message. Will be going to Kilmainham Garda station if no one claims.

It really suffers from the classic issue of 15 state agencies with their own requirements in one space.

We welcome the TΓ‘naisteβs reassurance that new laws will not make cycling without a helmet a crime.
While using helmets is important for cyclists, this law would have criminalised cyclists rather than users of high speed motorised bikes, scramblers and scooters, and dangerous drivers.

What a wildly stupid idea.
Mandatory helmets and high viz is a proven remedy to reduce the number of people cycling. It effectively kills off things like Dublin Bikes.
That's why no other EU country does anything like this. Pure madness.

It's not acceptable that the only way to get live updates on public transport is by having an account on X which is now under investigation for CSAM. TFI and Irish Rail need to start providing accessible and reliable updates on their own platforms instead of relying on X. #SpeirGorm

Ireland's only supervised injection centre has just secured permanent planning permission.
It's good news for Dubliners - now we need to see these facilities spread to anywhere where there is a drug injection problem.
