A23a has finally escaped the vortex! πββοΈπ
The biggest iceberg in the world is on the move again after a casual half-year sabbatical spent spinning in circles.
Our @magic.bas.ac.uk colleagues have illustrated A23's super circuitous 2024 journey via satellite imagery β¬οΈ

The future of science with NISAR! Great talk on the mission overview and applications of NISAR by Ian Joughin and others at #AGU24 today π°οΈ #lfg
This year was my 2nd #AGU and I am feeling a great sense of achievement talking about my research, now that the project is near completion π Thank you to everyone who stopped by my poster on Monday, and feel free to reach out if you want to talk rifts! π¦πΆ
Looks amazing! Which museums did you go to?
I will be at #AGU24 next week, presenting my work on SAR-based rift detection in Antarctica in the Monday afternoon C13A poster session. Poster # 0511 π See you there!

Congrats everyone!
The European Space Agency sentinel 1c satellite launching on a vega rocket
Everyone loves a satellite launch. Farewell Sentinel 1c !
Hello everyone, reintroducing myself here: I study rifts / fractures in Antarctic ice shelves using mostly SAR and machine learning. I also do work with sea ice and polar climatology π°οΈβοΈ
Currently finishing my MSc at UVic in Victoria, Canada.
Hope to see you all at AGU next week! π
And me please π₯Ή

ICE Lab presenting today at European Polar Science Week! SAR-based detection of supraglacial lakes in Greenland (@ConnorD010) and rifts in Antarctic ice shelves (me!) ππ°οΈβοΈ Posters # 85, 86, & 89. @ESA_EO @PolarFronts
Hello everyone at European Polar Science Week! π©π° @ConnorD010 and I are presenting our research on Arctic/Antarctic remote sensing in the Thursday poster session from 18:00-19:00. π See you there!
Thanks to everyone who stopped by! I really appreciate the interest and the suggestions π Stay tuned for my publication π #AGU23
Iβm presenting at #AGU23 this Wednesday! If you want to learn about the use of C- and L-band SAR to detect ice shelf fractures, Iβm ya gal. Session C31D, poster 1371! π€π°οΈ
Vancouver Island things! π
This one is for my marine science friends - magical encounter with a curious harbour seal in East Sooke last weekend! When Iβm not slaving at my computer you can find me underwater or underground π€
I submitted an abstract to @theAGU yesterday to present the first set of results from my Masters! I have been looking at the detectability of Antarctic rifts using C- and L-band SAR, and assessing the potential of object-based vs. pixel-based automated detection methods. π°οΈπ¦πΆ
I have been doing floral design during the summers for the last 5-6 years. Here are some things I made this year π Itβs nice to step back from science sometimes and be creative π
