For many Black women, the Target boycott is not over. It may never be.
A faith leader announced the end of a yearlong “Target fast,” but many Black women who helped launch the boycott say the movement wasn’t his to call off.
We spoke to Black women who started the Target boycott & who sustained it for a yr+. They'll likely never go back.
Teacher Laverne Mickens put it like this: “[Black women] will say if & when it’s over. And I can tell you right now: That will be the 15th of never ever.”

A progressive nonprofit in Ohio is warning that data centers are “dramatically increasing” electricity demand at taxpayers’ expense.
Data centers receive over $140 million per year of subsidies around the Buckeye State, according to a report from Innovation Ohio released March 11. Despite some upgrades to the electrical grid, higher demand pushes up costs on residents.
The report said that the average Ohio family could be paying $70 more per month by 2028.
Hey, that may be bad, but at least they're creating 16 or 18 low-paying jobs out of all of this. www.dispatch.com/story/news/l...

Someone in NYC should do interviews with middle-school kids who take the subway to and from school every day, to see if they have any advice for Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy who can't seem to go a single day without pissing himself in fear over them.

If you can’t think for yourself you can’t rebel. If you become reliant on an external brain to think for you, you will soon need it desperately. If you do not find art important, no art can move you to action. A docile, listless, addicted population is the dream of an authoritarian.

It's too late for this person, but if any of you are longing for the frisson of transgression, can I suggest participating in ICE watch outside your local ICE facility?

I'm telling you if you have a small animal that eats hay, get on Craigslist or find a local feed store that will sell you small square bales - they're 50 or 100lbs depending on where you live, and will save you enormous amounts of money.

"Something ineffable happens when you write down a thought:
You think something you did not know you could or would think and it leads you to another though. The process of writing itself leads to previously unthought thoughts [and] crystallizes half-formulated or unformulated thoughts"

Imagine how many meetings they had to develop this feature and yet nobody at Grammarly made either a moral case (ha) or a legal case for why stealing people's identities and lying about it might be a bad thing.

I feel some kind of way about people saying that we are docile cowards when we are being shot in the streets and teargassed on the regular and the response so many have is to figure out where they can go to add their bodies to the list of those willing to die to try to stop fascism from taking over.

For the tech world, education *is* a chore, you want to get the bare minimum as fast as possible before jumping in and making big bank at a start up, or as an entrepreneur yourself. Everything in the path of wealth or power or validation *through* these things must be discarded.
