of course! its good to be careful about what we post, even as a joke, right now because there are definitely people out there searching for stuff to take out of context and use against us.

that is absolutely not what is being said. the point of the image is that people tend to make observations that “trans people are all so strong” etc. but this is a logical misstep, you see so many strong, resilient trans people because all the ones who were less so have died.

in this context it is commenting on the fact that “trans people are all so strong etc” is an observation based on trans people who have survived, while ignoring those who have died, generally by suicide.

where they had been hit. then someone realized that the planes didn’t need more armor where the returning planes had been hit, because they had survived those hits. what they needed was to look at where planes that didn’t make it back were hit and put the armor there.

it has to do with survivorship bias. in ww2 they were tracking where planes that came back from missions had been hit (the red dots) with the intention of adding more armor
