Someone I know has reinvented themselves as a poet, having never read a book nevermind a poem in his life. Is publishing a book of poetry on Amazon tomorrow. So easy to do on chatgpt. What is going to happen to creative arts?

Having spent the afternoon reading The Writing Framework, I makes a lot of sense and aligns already with much of what we do already. Food for thought for those involved in school improvement.

Was at an English Conference where the Town End teachers talked about Readers Theatre. It sounded great at engaging all pupils.

Great to get outside today after 2 days of remote learning due to snow. Children enjoyed making igloos this afternoon. Hopefully finish them off tomorrow. With temperatures of -9 tonight, they're not going to be melting anytime soon!

Brilliant whole school poetry slam in the past couple of weeks with all children performing a poem they learned by heart. Celebration assembly featuring the winners from each class. Was absolutely amazing - confident delivery of a wide range of poetry. Will definitely do this again. School buzzing!🙂

I went on a York Ghost Walk a few years ago. It was fun going down all those ginnels and snickets, hearing all the spooky stories.👻

When I applied to be on the SLT with my school, I was the only candidate. I was still interviewed which was slightly odd.

Good grief! I have been at my school since 1996 and there was an interview with the HT, DHT and two governors. And that was it. No tasks, no lesson observation. Think I had to do more to get onto my PGCE... Don't think I could ever get a job now as the interview process is so demanding!😅

*those were the days.

I flew to Portugal by myself when I was 16. Had never flown before and was staying with a pen pal (those were the says). Had no mobile phone back then, only real money - no cash card for emergencies. Was delayed at Lisbon airport for 4 hrs on my return, with no money left. Can't believe I did it!

Excited to pre-order the new book by Onjali K. Rauf. Definitely need to make a school order too so that it can be shared throughout school. Such an important message.

Interesting to see what is going on in other schools and identify the tweaks needed to improve curriculum coverage and teaching. Do have a bit of imposter-syndrome at times.

Shared this in school this year when you shared before. It's a great selection. Teachers chose a few books per class in KS2 - thankfully I had some sponsored read money to spend.

Y1/2 mix for three years
Y3/4 mix for three years

Y6 since 2010 with no sign of escape.
KS1 English Leader 1997 -2000.
Whole school English Leader since 2000.
Curriculum Leader 2021-2023.
Diversity Leader since 2021.
Trust leader for writing since January 2024.

Think people are more interested in the image and posing rather than experiencing whatever it is first hand and just absorbing the moment. I have seen so many people at fantastic music concerts just watching it through their phones, even though they are near the front. 🤷‍♀️
