There is a metaphor here, I’m sure, about tiny irritants growing exponentially larger when they’re not able to be stopped early on. Blah blah blah that’s how pearls are made.

But also, ouch.

I also cut my hand with our sharpest knife. It was a tiny sliver of a slice, and didn’t hurt then, but has gotten increasingly sore because the spot is high-movement and hard to bandage.

On Monday evening, a rogue popcorn kernel got stuck in the back of my throat. It scratched me, and that spot has been increasingly irritated ever since.
