Do I like it - This is fucking hilarious. I don't know if it's going to be in heavy rotation but I definitely like it.
What is it like - all instrumental, sounds like surfer rock mixed with jazz. Many songs have a Casio keyboard so it basically sounds like Legend of Zelda level music played over riff heavy rock music.
Short CD review because I am ripping my way through the collection and I have thoughts that aren't going into a podcast episode for a while.
MX-80 - Das Love Boat
Purchased - PRX
Reason - Album name
Album art - simplistic

Narrator over a picture of people walking on the beach, one of whom has a tentacle creeping out of her bag: Rhode Island is for Weirdos!
HP Lovecraft at the Providence waterfront: Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn!
Portuguese Fisherman: Oh hey man I don't know Italian but my buddy Guillermo the next pair over does. He's the one shucking oysters (points, Guillermo waves).
HP Lovecraft: *bloodcurdling screams*
My fantasy Rhode Island Superbowl Ad:
Roger Williams in a colonial house: Indians should be treated like people!
Puritan: Get out.
Moses Brown at a brown family dinner: Slaves should be treated like people!
John Brown: Get out.
We really should put something along these lines on our tourism brochures.
I know that's all super vague but like I'm not going to go into specifics for obvious reasons.
So I guess I should post about this here so everyone sort of knows what's happening. The Child is going back to the hospital, which requires spending days in a different hospital. Meanwhile the state may grace us with a real solution but in the meantime we had no stability.
I interviewed for a job at a planning office in New Hampshire and everyone seemed extremely normal and it creeped me out so I took a job in Rhode Island instead.

Thanks so much to Bry @pontifactspod.bsky.social and Ben @w2wpodcast.bsky.social for bringing me into the proceedings!
This year I will be a moderator as well as presenting, so be sure to watch out for me there!
They were absolutely raking it in tonight and this kid was buzzing, kept going between peppering his mom with snarky questions, grabbing supplies for the kitchen staff, and operating the technology.
I have once again renewed my people's cultural tie with the Chinese people by enjoying a meal from a locally owned, family run business. The 10yo son of the family was working the register and was adorable and precocious in equal measure.

Merry Late Capitalism! Every One.
Episode audio has been updated. Apologies again.
Hey all, I want to apologize for the audio being so low. I've made a few attempts to boost the gain over the years but with the dynamic ad inserts this is BAD. Usually I consider a lack of professionalism an aesthetic for indie podcasting but I am not trying to defend you intentionally.
Episode 24: Eighteenth Century Flute Duets (volume 1), performed by Julius Baker and Jean-Pierre Rampal. Bet.

For anyone who has actually interacted with the homeless population, particularly in the Providence area, the fact that one of them broke the Brown shooting case isn't hugely surprising. So much of the fear and mistrust is comically/tragically misplaced collective guilt.
Yes. Nationalism is a hell of a drug.
Tired of reading about shootings but still want to doomscroll? Here you go!

Ha yeah and gun crime is ridiculously low as a result. A little over 3 per 100k.
First memory of the Providence police: came down here to interview for a job 12 years ago. This is before weed was legal. I was walking in front of the mall and two teenagers were blazing away while having a completely friendly conversation with a police officer.
Laws work differently here.
"what do you MEAN the cops haven't given us the name and blood type of the suspect of a shooting still under investigation. *What are they hiding!?*"
