Right, another key thing that historians do is working with important records that have not been digitized.
And the vast majority of the world’s records *have not been digitized* and thus do not exist in any format that LLMs/AI can work with.

Predicting that this week we’ll hear more conciliatory words from the Administration regarding Minnesota (since they’re starting to realize that ICE has become politically toxic) but everyone outside of Minnesota needs to know that nothing on the ground has changed.
The point: locking people up in unsanitary camps with inadequate care is also murder.
As long as I'm piggy-backing on an account with an audience: I'll add that those 60, 90, 120-student classes are incredibly diverse. It's impossible to tell from their names, backgrounds, or immigration status who will excel.They're treasures, & anyone wanting to deprive our country of them is nuts.
There's a massive disconnect between what students are interested in and what administrators are willing to fund. (Thankful, though, that I am lucky enough to have a medieval colleague. All of our classes regularly fill, whether the cap is 60 or 90 or 120.)
I’m a historian of antisemitism. The comparison is apt. Anne Frank went into hiding so she could avoid deportation and imprisonment in a concentration camp. She died of disease in that camp. Children are hiding from ICE to avoid being deported to camps where people are sickening & dying
