3/3: As a Japanese American, I carry this ancestral history with deep reflection and gratitude for those who stood up for equality in the face of fear and prejudice, allowing me to be positioned where I am today.
2/3: We are witnessing history repeating itself; the federal government is, once again, using fear and prejudice as justification to deprive entire communities of their rights and freedoms. We must continue to tell our stories and speak out against injustice wherever we see it.
1/3: Today, February 19, is the Day of Remembrance, marking a solemn reminder of Executive Order 9066, which led to the incarceration of over 120,000 Japanese Americans during World War II.
Due to unforeseen weather, Mayor Ishii & Councilmember O'Keefe's Joint Office Hours scheduled for today (February 19) will be postponed to a later date.

Last night, the Berkeley City Council had the great honor of recognizing Tom Brougham and Barry Warren for their tireless advocacy for LGBTQIA+ rights.
Because of their persistence and courage, Berkeley became the first city in California, in 1984, to adopt a domestic partnership policy.
