Just a thought, maybe I still do Trek related stuff on Thursdays to fill the void. Haven’t done fanart in a long time…

Really enjoyed Starfleet Academy. I’m looking forward to a second season and I hope it comes around quick. Don’t like all this empty space without Trek.

Do you think horses have intense special interests in us? 🐴💕
Yes!
I need to see everyday stuff and know that we can pass on a little bit of our today to that tomorrow.
Help monetarily.
Help by sharing.
Help by making sure your towns and cities have mutual aid infrastructure *just in case*.
Hope you get some downtime soon!
I think it would have made more sense if she brought the bridge crew, but a few get injured and the cadets assume those roles and fight like mad to rescue their friends.
Half the competency? I’m happy to give that a chance, too. I’d love to follow the story of early career federation officers.
TNG had an episode called Lower Decks, but the animation by the same name takes a more humorous approach.
AGREED! They should examine why they need $8 million per episode. I need at least 15 episodes.
One HAS to be about holodeck shenanigans.
Ake was all “Crew, I don’t want you to get into trouble, evacuate the ship immediately.”
“Damn, that’s a bad design flaw about that storage bay”
“Students, get to your bridge stations now!”
I love Ake, I do, but wut? At least keep the bridge crew while you go off to save students in danger?
This art is so beautiful!
Riker’s a babe, what can I say? Frakes in glasses? Bombshell.
She wanted to go where no man has gone before. Because she needed some space…
lol, was he looking for something more along the lines of “Hoot, the Owl?”
OMG so beautiful. Thank you for making this scene WARM. Everything is so visually blue on screen these days.
I wonder how they got that way. I wish there was a series out there that explored how one “becomes competent” within the Star Trek universe.
Like a time capsule episode where the students get to meet Uhura or another fun SNW crew member! And then SNW crew return with important help from the STA crew. That’d be so neat!
…Are you okay?
Also! I think the federation deciding to take ALL of its ships and consolidate them into one place is poor (chess)strategy. Nus Braka just put the federation in check, it’s up to Nala Ake and crew to make the next move. Also, the federation HQ is on Betazed, but is Earth and home of STA safe?! 2/2
Global organized crime is no joke and its infrastructure is pretty amazing and VERY well resourced. ($3-5 trillion annually) Imagining how our current organized crime syndicates could look nearly 1000 years into the future, and after an isolating catastrophe—it’s definitely wild. Feels real! 1/2
As jarring as the new Treks, which have about 10 episodes a season. Less than half of what we used to have. They want to be light hearted, uplifting, ask questions, explore grief. And give each core cast member an arc or flaw to master. I’m casting my vote for longer seasons. 15 episodes or more!2/2
I think that’s the new Trek’s way of trying to be like its predecessors. TNG, VOY, and DS9 had some silly episodes where they goof about in tights or play baseball. But TNG and VOY were prone to “alien of the week” stories with up to 24-25 episodes per season. It’s spread out so it’s not quite 1/2
Phones are designed to capture our attention and hold it hostage. Every aspect of our phones is designed to reduce friction of use. It fits in our pockets, it messes with our need to stay informed, it’s instantly gratifying. It’s a huge challenge and I hope people start to notice the weight of it.
That’s the seed point for an interesting sci-fi. Did you see the second episode of Black Mirror with the TV walls that track your eyes and pause commercials if your eyes are closed? That one messed me up.
Homework. So grateful that I didn’t grow up with a smartphone. I can’t imagine how overwhelming it is to watch tv, try to write an essay, and stopping every ten minutes to check notifications. All the while, every screen is trying to sell you something by making you feel bad about yourself first.2/2
Children have incredible plasticity, but as we age, our brains get tired faster. We have more limited bandwidth, but modern life is increasingly vying for our attention, every minute of the day if we let it. Our phones being the most insidious. I am like you, I also watched TV while doing 1/2
You are not alone. More and more shows and movies accommodate this “distracted viewing” habit by repeating plot points or sometimes awkwardly narrating actions. Stranger Things is a great example of this shift from the first season to the final.
