And before you fucking start “smart” does not mean “morally praiseworthy”

Its really striking how much of our politics is driven by people who claim not to be Republicans but whose sole consistent principle is that every single problem in society is Democrats’/liberals’ fault
I liked it because I figured it was Din moving away from being a bounty hunter, a job he clearly disliked. If he’s not hauling prisoners around he doesn’t need a larger ship, and if he’s going to settle down and be a dad he doesn’t need a ship big enough to live out of.
I've heard it was his call, and have no trouble believing it, but I've never seen any proof. IMDB says Katie Lucas wrote it; did George do uncredited writing or something similar?
Whose idea was it to officially establish that Maul survived the Ep. 1 fight?
He’d be one of the human supremacists from Enterprise, without a doubt.

How so?
And nobody should demand that other people acknowledge it as "objectively" good or bad based on that person's subjective tastes.
Recognizing this as a personal preference thing is the most important bit. Folks trying to force their subjective takes onto other people is maybe the second-worst thing that happens in fandom (with the worst being bigotry).
What's with this obsession with "moral clarity" being bad? Is it just about trying to hide bad behavior by pretending that you can never tell what's wrong and what's not? Because that seems too simple (and stupid) but maybe I'm giving folks like TCW too much credit?
All these people avoiding m-dashes because “AI uses them” simply means that there’s more for me!
my kingdom for an electorate with a memory longer than roughly one week
It also betrays a set of assumptions which I never see spoken about: The assumption here is that the purpose of social media is to constantly be fighting about party politics. MOST of my activity here is taking in art, comedy and information about games! Because I like fun! These people are insane.
A lot of this is just “don’t use technical terms to talk about oppression and discrimination”, and maybe there’s simpler terms one might use, but it gives the impression that the list maker just wants Dems to not talk about those things at all.
Most of these phrases are. I understand arguing that politicians should avoid overly technical language when talking to the public, but you’ve got to be able to say food insecurity and BIPOC and LGBTQA+ and unhoused and so on.
I think some of these people really think, or have convinced themselves, that being publicly poor or homeless is illegal.
I scratch my head when people who obviously watched Star Trek wind up becoming whack job Nazis.
In the same way that transphobes insist that trans folks didn’t exist until a few years ago, some racists insist that Europe was 100% white until the mid-20th century.
Sick of everything being Orwellian or Kafkaesque. I demand more Scarrylous situations, where animals drive vehicles and run small businesses.
maybe if your only social interactions are on a fuckin social network then i suppose you do want it to nourish every need u have
This belief is a huge part of what has gotten us here: An obsessive insistence that “debate” should take precedence over all other values, including the *merits of the thing being debated.*
It is a value antithetical to journalism and they keep pretending it is the only thing journalists should do
Yeah, that's where I watched it.
are negative integers whole numbers in the mirror universe
always have to remember the right will get hysterical over every issue of the day it does not matter about validity or truth it is all about feeding their constant outrage machine
Andrés Spokoiny i WW @Spokoiny Follow No, Mamdani won't enact a single anti-Jewish measure. I don't even know what those would be. But that's not the point. The point is that 400K of my neighbors don't care that he makes Jews feel unsafe. That's the real tragedy here. 8:38 PM • 6/24/25 • 125K Views
this is an embarrassing thing for this guy to say in public but also touches on something that constantly rankles me, which is the vague idea of "feeling unsafe" as a problem that someone else needs to solve for you regardless of whether you are actually unsafe or not
