The distance between the ratlines on the shrouds are a bit big, but I think visually they work.
It's a tough build
The nets sort of worked but it was frustrating to do and I just had to do my best. I did use some Uschi thread because i thought it was easier, but it wasn't really.
Anyway the shrouds are easier, I saved a frame that came with a Heller Galley kit. Had toi relearn how to use it.

Decided to not use the Uschi elastic rigging thread, the reels I have are to thin, instead I'm using some fine plastic (nylon?) sowing thread.
Will probably paint it when complete.
Not sure what to do with rigging.
The rat lines are a particular problem.
Do I bother?

Decals applied, also the timber to support the anti-boarding nets done. Some of the tiny 1/400 sailors clinging on for dear life.
I'm thinking of trying to use Uschi fine elastic rigging thread to implement nets. Probably need to start thinking about the sea and base!

HOLY CRAP! I got 2nd place in the diorama category with my stuart!!
Seriously unexpected but so chuffed with that!!
Thanks to all who wished me luck it's certainly paid off!

I have ordered some tiny 1/400 20th century figures which I hope I can paint a few to look 17th century.
Note the guns on one side look a mess since the ship will be listing to one side.
The Mary Rose is coming together.
I am brush painting everything. Obviously haven't used the included paints!
I painted the sails with a lot of coats, the coats were brushed 90 degs to each other, which artificially creates a thread like texture.
What coating was used on the hull bottoms in the 1500s?
I know the Royal Navy had copper bottoms later, but obviously not in Henry VIIIs reign.
Was it just bare timber?
Some sort of varnish?
#histscalemodels #scalemodels Didnโt realize that the front cowlings on these planes with Bristol engines was actually the exhaust collector. Pretty clever. Replicating it was a fun challenge. Also most of the way through painting the underside.
Beautiful. (#OTD in 1944. A Lancaster Mark III from 619 Squadron on a test flight from Coningsby airfield. #WW2 #HISTORY)
WW1 x-ray truck model with decals applied to the sides.
First of my home-made decals in position. Only messed up 3 along the way! The others can all wait for the protective clear-coat to dry completely.

They need tidying up and I might try and bend some of them into slightly different curves.
Also I can choose not to use all of the sails.
I think it will work.
As a starter kit I understand why it has been simplified, but that means opportunity to improve it!
I was going to make some new sails for thex Mary Rose.
But I decided to use the existing 'starter' sails that are molded together.
I am seperating the sails out so that they can be glued in different positions, rather than in the uniform 'starter' postions.
Don't throw away those little bits of plastic card that you create when cutting out complex shapes.
They are useful for hidden packing material and other uses.
Here I have stuck a few bits together and drilled holes to glue the ships masts into.

WHAAAAOOOW
Do I have the greatest idea
It's so easy it feels like cheating. Wonderful production from Tamiya. Even the billion wheels weren't as bad as first thought.

The Mary Rose 1/400 scale.
Making tiny tiny things.
This is proving to be quite complicated, but enjoyable.
Aligning the decks with the gun ports is tricky.
It's going to be capsizing so I am assuming many guns rolled or fell to the side taking on water.
Making the situation worse.

I'm not paid enough to eat this
I bought some that to slap on a diorama last week.
Some more buildings weathered up, ready for games. The sheds will be part of a factory complex. Two more buildings to add to that before finished.

*Europe voice* It's the final gloss coat!
Decals on, tail attached, protective coat sprayed. Time for weathering.
Anyone got recommendations for what panel line wash to use here? Should I just go black? Or something light and contrasty?

#histscalemodels #scalemodels. Finished the WNW Sopwith Camel. Gonna skip WW1 planes for a while. Too fiddly for me.
