I grew up in one of the WV top 10 and I wonder if it’s partly an inventory issue? There is not a lot of housing and it rarely turns over. Not much is being built. When something does come online it’s competitive.

I haven't talked to Mayor Wilson abt that idea. I think it stinks. It's a successful program and we see from open houses/survey in each district that folks are ready to pay more to fund streets/maintenance. It's like complying in advance. Gas tax also has "user pays" element that utility fee lacks.

Today, 31 unions & labor organizations representing over 130,000 workers in Portland and OR sent a letter to @mayorkwilson.bsky.social & District Attorney Vasquez demanding that they enforce the law and get justice for the children, elderly, & working people tear gassed by ICE on 1/31.
This captured the dignity and bravery I witness in Portlanders every day. Started tearing up reading it. From kids to elderly people, everyone showed bravery and a discipline to look out for their neighbors that day.
I love the people of this city so much.
ICE tear gassed a bunch of children on Saturday. This was a massive escalation of force. They were shooting tear gas at the back of the crowd, it took these unmasked people maybe 3-5 minutes in the cloud of tear gas to escape in without trampling. www.theverge.com/policy/87278...
