Actually having a little time over the bank holiday weekend has lead down the deeply humbling road of trying to remaster and remix the first few episodes of @thewyrdside.bsky.social and gosh, have we learned a thing or two since we put those out!

When the hyperfixation hits and you deep dive into the medieval portry of Cwmru and end up writing several poems and parts of stories in awdl for the Wyrd Side-whilst also setting an in universe rule of speeh which will be interesting to have to deal with in future seasons!
My Soul? Operated.
My Heart? In a Dungeon.
My Bonds? Forged.
My World? Gone Wrong.
My Woods? Hallowed.
My Monologues? In the Attic.
My Boat? Paddled.
My Tales? Not Told.
You'll have to forgive me but it drives me a little mad to see somebody talk about collaborative story-telling in creative industries I deeply care about, while loudly championing a tool that is anti-collaboration, anti-artist and anti-planet.
Also your alt-text sucks shit.
Well said! The young people I work with are aware of the impacts of GenAI and understand the power of working creatively and conversely how their art, that they created themselves can champion their voices and make an positive change in the world. There are so many better ways than GenAI.
Firstly huge congrats for making it and achieving this milestone! Secondly, this looks and sounds absolutely fantastic and I'm going to have to set aside some time to have a go at it asap! Can't wait!
Oh! Still so sad I couldn't make it to the live show, I'm so excited to be able to listen now though!
For those who need help staring hereβs some very handy steps and templates

If you're wondering what to write, this EXCELLENT article from Ed Newton Rex describes in-depth the issues with their proposed model.
Insist that artists rights to their work should not be sidestepped for the benefit of billion dollar corporations!

UK WRITERS: You need to fill in this consulation. Govt is very clearly looking to an opt-out model of rights licensing that puts all the burden on creators instead of profiteers. It's long and boring but this is important.

Best of luck! Creative projects can be both taxing and rewarding, hold on to that passion and feeling and I'm looking forward to listening to what is made!
Free League's newest The One Ring expansion feels like it was tailor made for the campaign I am running at the moment and I couldn't be more here for it! I'm so looking forward to seeing it in action and providing even more of a chance for my players to tell amazing stories.
That moment when you see a local legend and folktale, take a deep dive into it, visit the location, and it all weaves into a character's story so perfectly.
Trying the best we can to get on with season two of the wyrd side as Alex and I are obsessed with the journey these characters are going on (read: trauma), both in this season and our plans for later ones. Roll on a fateful encounter in the woods and a character we can't wait for you to meet!
Oh that looks bonkers good!! Will check if the local library has it, as I've just finished Song of the Huntress and need something new!

My post from Tumblr which reads: I genuinely wonder if people realize how many projects get abandoned because the readership "wasn't there", when in reality, the readership just stayed silent. It's a big thing in trad pub that book series get discontinued because readers pirate the books or wait until the series is finished to buy a copy, leading the publisher to think that nobody actually wants the book enough to continue the series, but it happens with indie creators too. I've discontinued a lot of free, online series because it's not worth putting 3-5 hours a week into posting a project for no readers. Sometimes I finish the series for me but just never post it again, other times I don't finish it at all because it feels more worthwhile to put my time into other things. Sometimes I hear from readers who are sad or upset that I didn't finish something they were liking, but the *reason* it never got finished is because I didn't know anyone liked it. If you like something, tell the creator, tell your friends, make some noise about it. If you would be sad if a story never finished, make that interest known because one of my biggest considerations before discontinuing a series is "will people miss this? Will I be letting people down" and 9/10 times, I come to the conclusion of "no, it doesn't even seem like anyone's reading this" only to learn after I've moved on that apparently someone was.
You may have seen this post circling talking about how important it is to tell creators when you appreciate what they do.
The irony is it's MY post from Tumblr stolen by someone else. Please reskeet THIS post & NOT the stolen one bc we support creators making their own work on bluesky.
Anyone can make a great fiction podcast. All you need is a Blue Yeti, some friends who are willing to speak nonsense into the record, some free editing software, a willingness to enter into a Faustian bargain with the dark presence in the lands beyond the shadows, and the gumption to make min 6 eps.
This is amazing!!! Absolutely best of luck!
Post from user sarahluannart 11/15/24: For my fellow creatives who need this reminder: Photo of a post-it note with words in black marker: Just make it EXIST first. You can make it GOOD later.
Creating NPCs to match PCs' themes is a must for me at this point when preparing a campaign.
It makes it more focused and helps underline what PCs' stories are about.
Hello! I'm Matt, he/him. I'm based in the UK and I do a few things in RPGs. This intro thread will tell you about them and me, and hopefully it'll both gain and lose me some followers. Curate your damn feed.
Hi Matt! Thank you so much for posting this thread! I'm looking to both curate my feed and discover more collaborative creative opportunities so this is perfect. Your work looks amazing and I'm super excited to try more of it out!
Heya, I should probably introduce myself!
I'm Finn, co-creator of The Wyrd Side, an ongoing folk horror supernatural audio drama, creator of the New Weird Regency TTRPG Seance and Sensibility and a freelance writer and actor. I'm currently open for collaborative creative work so do get in touch!

Lots of new faces here, time for re-introductions!
Weβre The Wyrd Side, a fictional podcast following two paranormal investigators as they uncover the truth lurking behind British folktales, from stories whispered around dying campfires, to the unease you feel as you cross that stone circleβ¦ (1/2)
This should be a much bigger story. This is insane.
Every writer who spent months walking around in a circle with a strike sign should be outraged.
Without your approval, you have been training the massive fleet of robots commissioned to assassinate you.

ITS HERE! Across the month of November, weβre honoured to be hosting the first episode of Welcome to the Brass Eagle (@brasseaglepod) on our feed! Full of adventure, with rich soundscaping and compelling characters, if you liked The Wyrd Side you should definitely check them out!
Ah Iwish I had one of the manuscripts I've been working on up to scratch for this deadline! Hopefully you will have other submission windows open in the future, the books you publish and support are inspirational (and aspirational!)
