Someone "may not know how money works" at the grocery store, in the sense that they don't use *cash*.

But people who have grown up using debit cards and are using SNAP are very likely to know exactly how much money they have available and which they have to use for each item.

#FigureSkating

It's sad when your favorite skaters withdraw from Worlds, but I am happy for the skaters who now get an opportunity to participate and get more competitive experience.

In other words: Husted does not do the grocery shopping for his own family and has *no effing clue* how the real world works. Projection at its finest.

Anyone who has ever had to shop on a limited budget knows this is utter bullcrap. When you are broke, you have to keep track of every penny.

BY THE WAY, acknowledging that writer pay is generally low and always has been does NOT mean that one should abandon the idea that a) one's work has value and b) that this value should be reflected in what is offered for it by others, says the former president of a writers' association.

β€˜Hey’ came before β€˜hi,’ and β€˜hi' came before β€˜hello.’

β€˜Hi’ is most likely a variant of β€˜hey.’

β€˜Hello’ is not related to either.

Goodbye.

The Bethesda escalators! I can only describe them as an E-ticket ride. The combination of the steepness and the speed.

Too many people review books and movies and TV by saying "I don't like this, therefore it sucks" or vice-versa. But the "did I like it" and "is this good (craftsmanship)" are two different metrics, and the wise critics can address both questions at once.

Yes, thanks, I saw that article. They'll also have to make sure parts of the station weren't affected by the heat from the fire.

The surrounding area will have to be decontaminated and cleaned up. I'm not surprised that surrounding streets are closed off.

No #genealogy research because I am watching the Paralympics and catching up on figure skating, but I did make one insteresting discovery.

Yes, that seems likely.

Preventing uploads (for everyone) would prevent law enforcement from using the MyHeritage database in that way.

I have been having great fun seeing all my old-favorite skaters when they turn up as coaches in the kiss-and-cry.

#AncestryHour Presumably that evidence would come under different rules, but I haven't been following CeCe's work (& that of others) so I don't know all the rules.

10.03.2026 20:53 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

#AncestryHour So: investigators go out and collect a fresh #DNA sample (let's say, discarded coffee cup) from a suspect to match against the crime scene. As long as the rules are followed about how they get that sample, the evidence should be admissable. The genetic genealogy is a 'tip'.

#AncestryHour There are rules about what evidence is admissible in court, and ordinarily those rules keep law enforcement from collecting evidence by means which are against the law. But for genetic genealogy, the genealogy sites provide leads about what suspects to investigate. 🧡

I started watching the ice dancing lore episode 1 last night, but quickly got derailed because it made me want to re-watch Torvill & Dean and some of the other ice dancers mentioned (which I had seen live at the time) as well as look for the teams I had missed.

#AncestryHour I do like the wills that mention memorials and burial information. Wills can be so useful in tying everything together.

I still have four Β£1.50 wills/admons outstanding.

Yes, I meant currently. I don't want to spoil anyone else's pleasure, but I dislike the Russian "let's jump and let's make everyone know how hard this is while we're doing it" school of non-choreography.

I did enjoy watching Irina Slutskaya back in the day, though.

#AncestryHour I'm not ranting at you, because this is FamilySearch's fault, but I dislike how all links to RootsTech and elsewhere just show a generic card on social media.

Yes, I spotted the talk on The Lost Child, it looked interesting.

Love you, Thomas, but the answer to that fits on an index card.

#AncestryHour I'm missing the logic there. If MyHeritage doesn't want their database used, I don't have a problem with that.

But If law enforcement used DNA uploaded from elsewhere, how does MyHeritage know which database it had been accessed from? πŸ€”
