Hello bluesky!
Thanks Andy! I've played it pretty low-key for most of my career, but looking forward to sharing a backlog of work.

I'm a designer working in Wellington, New Zealand. With 15+ yrs experience working in film and games. I've had the opportunity to contribute to some pretty special projects and work alongside incredible people. Spent 7 years as a project lead at Wētā Workshop and co-creator of Storm Raiders.
trusting that in time the micro efforts will pull me back to loving the work again. Great topic to bring up man.
the Anxiety killer is horrible. For me its been the reason why I've succeeded in elevating my work and the reason for paralysis/self-sabotage. The only tools I have against it is trying to replace those intrusive thoughts with more powerful empowering ones. and...
Ultimately If you feel you cant remove 3D from the workflow I feel the challenge is learning how to love it. For me it's learning to stream line the procedural nature of it to maximise creative control and keep my brain in design mode rather than problem solving the software.
Really miss the 2D days. But I've seen in action co-workers who slide through this with ease. So trying to blunt force my way though those stages at speed, rather than mentally fighting the transition. Just get back to 2d ASAP.
4- Switch gears with pace: going from pencil to 2d - sculpting - modelling - texturing and rendering back to 2d. Every time I switch, I lose so much energy.
3- Scope Creep: Sticking with what got me excited in the first place, messing with a design too much often sucks my energy and enthusiasm for the solution I'm putting forward. Or putting forward too many solutions. Curiosity killed the cat.
2- Choose my belief systems: Choosing not to adapt jaded self talk. Appreciate the opportunity and the joy the work brings to others even if I can't see it anymore.
I feel this! Even with enjoying the 3D process it can be a drain. A few things I've been working on to battle it;
1- Manage my energy levels. Protect my time away from the work to refill. Overworking always comes at a cost and the older I get the more it effects me.

This was an interesting listen.

In general, I'd argue there's far too much debate, clickbait divisional rhetoric happening in our societies. Would love to see more discussion, with the intent to unify, educate and respect others from all sides.
Dont mind me i'll just keep reposting old #pixelart until I have time to make new stuff
Have a good day y'all 💖
