This 18-year-old Afghan girl had offers from York and Reading β thanks to Shabana Mahmood, she will now never escape the Taliban | The Independent www.independent.co.uk/news/people/...
honestly not to be that girl but air fryers do a fairly decent job of it
barring chevening scholars is genuinely psychopathic behaviour, absolute cruelty for cruelty's sake
The explanation is that sheβs a vindictive person and heβs a craven coward. They believe that cruelty is a vote winner.
shabana mahmood is so evil that *yvette cooper* is begging her to lighten up
www.theguardian.com/politics/202...
it's worse, she has anthropologist brain
it's almost like campaigning against this to win a handful of votes in aberdeen is both profoundly unserious and wildly unpopular
mood, like, i didn't think it would be better because we already knew what streeting was like but i thought they'd at least not be quite as laser focused on making it *worse*
it hasn't much reduced the number of lithium fires in bin lorries etc either, they're still being treated as disposable
like it definitely has not resulted in us going back to having either tank-style or juul-style ones people wouldn't ever think of just binning
yeah but they've been replaced by just about as cheap ones that are materially not much different just with a charging port attached, they're still being treated at the consumer level as single use
otherwise you wouldn't need to have such a huge number being sold every day
I wonder if eu regulations/product standards are different/more enforceable?
it certainly feels like our disposable vape ban was written far too loosely and has done absolutely fuck all
yeah, quite recently opened afaik but that might just be how rarely google maps updates and how invisible those become when you walk by every day
video seems to show it's one of the super dodgy ones with just a banner for a sign etc
i've seen chat as well about how phones etc have lithium batteries so they're dangerous too but
1) they tend to be more thoroughly engineered and tested
2) they're more careful handled and packaged
3) a single shop isn't going to have uncountable thousands of them piled up on top of each other
we had a very near miss on losing the main rail connection of the beating heart of scotland's culture and economy
given the proliferation of vape shops we need to take very, very seriously that this could happen anywhere at any time
can everyone on here stop the conspiratorial chat about developers and fire
obviously glasgow's had dodgy fires in abandoned buildings but this is not that! it was a busy, occupied building in the city centre
you're just taking attention from the real scourge which was likely unsafe vapes
My hairdresser and friend opened her business last week. Tonight it burned to the ground. This is devastating.
Iβve set up a fundraiser. If you havenβt done anything for international womenβs day yet, hereβs a chance to support a women-run business in need: www.paypal.com/pools/c/9nhn...
The fire on Union Street yesterday and overnight is absolutely devastating, a dark day for Glasgow. Central Station remains closed for the time being. I am hugely grateful to the emergency services who have worked throughout the night to contain the blaze and limit the damage.
this is genuinely so much worse than the art school even
same, i can't focus on anything it's just too horrible
it's real bad
can't believe we might lose central station - scotland's largest city's only rail connection to anywhere south of the border - because of some shitty fucking vapes
bsky.app/profile/past...
ok but if as people are speculating this is a lithium fire caused by dodgy vapes we need a wide scale crackdown
a medieval Edinburgh street in the sun with the pentlands in the background
can't even complain about being stuck inside with this view
hello Edinburgh farmers market π
god this is such a good description of the last cursed 18 years
it was a state school that tortured her, it was just a fancy state boarding magnet school (which is presumably where the "river's storyline is anti public school" discourse came from)
