mood, like, i didn't think it would be better because we already knew what streeting was like but i thought they'd at least not be quite as laser focused on making it *worse*
it hasn't much reduced the number of lithium fires in bin lorries etc either, they're still being treated as disposable
like it definitely has not resulted in us going back to having either tank-style or juul-style ones people wouldn't ever think of just binning
yeah but they've been replaced by just about as cheap ones that are materially not much different just with a charging port attached, they're still being treated at the consumer level as single use
otherwise you wouldn't need to have such a huge number being sold every day

i've seen chat as well about how phones etc have lithium batteries so they're dangerous too but
1) they tend to be more thoroughly engineered and tested
2) they're more careful handled and packaged
3) a single shop isn't going to have uncountable thousands of them piled up on top of each other
we had a very near miss on losing the main rail connection of the beating heart of scotland's culture and economy

The fire on Union Street yesterday and overnight is absolutely devastating, a dark day for Glasgow. Central Station remains closed for the time being. I am hugely grateful to the emergency services who have worked throughout the night to contain the blaze and limit the damage.
