clockwise, left to right: Patrick Juvet (singing in French, English, also Forever Young!), Gjon’s Tears (French, English), Nemo (English), Pronto (German, English)
I’m sure there will be lots of cheese of all ages, varieties and qualities (complimentary!)
some personal 🇨🇭 faves that came to mind:
a section of Edvard Munch’s The Scream
how Norwegian
search: one of the all-time best ESC (RIP) entries/performances
the mission is clear, hope it will come to pass!
they could also scupper* the chances of Big Nation by only lukewarmly voting for any of their songs
*a word I don’t remember ever seeing before in my life, cool!
(and possibly derived from Dutch, extra cool!)
or as I, the Senegal manager, call it, the AKONundrum
we also could agree on a non-aggression pact fielding the near-interchangeable Akon 🇸🇳 and Nico & Vinz 🇳🇴 for a tactical tie
I have no idea about anything, the all of music history is up for grabs thing is making me very nervous
(also two thirds of all countries will go thru to the next phase, it’s the peaceful FIFA way)
think it’s only for the Ivorian team, the CNSE has a special app, the beautifully named Eleph’Fan

happy to be going throat to throat with you 😇
either that or they’ll have you butchered
Suriname 🇸🇷 would be the perfect fourth here (obviously!)
Group of… Life!!! (and yes, also Death)
…which has Sranantongo (the Surinamese creole & lingua franca) on it, but other local languages as well, possibly Saramaccan) - the track you originally posted, if it’s from Suriname and I still tend to think it is, doesn’t have Sranantongo.
yes, he’s on the “Baja Da Mi” track I posted
they’re a possibly NL-based Suriname band, aimed at the Surinamese community, performing both in the diaspora and in Suriname itself
confusion because of all too obvious artist names? I’ve never heard of such a thing! I’m claiming ‘The Beat’ before any other smartass gets their hands on it!
RESEARCH UPDATE: the La Perfecta in question are very much from Curaçao 🇨🇼, (one or two) Spanish title(s) notwithstanding. see the full sleeve here: youtu.be/08SINb8V9CY?...
(but yes, there is also a La Perfecta (from) Martinique, and there is even an older Eddie Palmieri project by the same name)
this is that video. the genre is kabula/kaseko, btw. (tbc by “not dissimilar” I was referring to the musical style btw, not suggesting it’s the same track or anything)
youtu.be/JD69pjQTQRw?...
don’t hear the Portuguese myself (and a quick check suggested funana typically has accordion in it, which this hasn’t). I suspect (altho I’m not quite sure) this might be a Surinamese track. found a not at all dissimilar “Baja da Mi” track on Spotify, the YT upload is from 2010.
iow the pavlovian I Zimbra / 99 Luftballons response when asked to come up with a NIE track
I know you’re joking, but this is my biggest fear about this WC poll: people just trying to come up with any song by a Dutch/German/Swiss/Argentinian/etc act that happened to be a hit in the UK/US, or alternatively some tried and tested chestnut, instead of fielding a ~~fresh~~ young team of players
yeah it’s wild
from what I can see one of the biggest prizes is still up for grabs, I’m of course talking about [REDACTED]
I saw some Qatar 🇶🇦 slander in the guidelines (and I will leave Curaçao 🇨🇼 out of it for now) - I do hope you (and everyone else too ftm) have made at least a mental note of this foqqinq Qatari banger that I posted the previous time: bsky.app/profile/lokp...
the least surprising reply ever!
re: the last scenario (completely hypothetical of course!): if a manager is willing and able to fill those slots themselves, will they be allowed to? or are you the ultimate curator?
is the long version available yet? very
curious about any (non)recency clauses, a thing that was discussed when the idea for this poll was announced (I’m still very much in favour of exclusively recent stuff for all countries, but you may have decided differently of course!)
segment from the Official UK Singles Chart: 72 Central Cee • Iceman Freestyle 73 Saja Boys • Soda Pop (from KPop Demon Hunters) 74 FLEETWOOD MAC • EVERYWHERE (in its 139th chart week) 75 HUNTR/X • Takedown (from KPop Demon Hunters) 76 Myles Smith • Stay (If You Wanna Dance) 77 ZXKAI • No Batidão
holding its own in the UK charts among the Young People’s Music as we speak, yet another week
Dave, the 🇿🇦Tea White album you linked came out in 2023 (he released another one last year)
