I stayed in IC once and it was OKish to suit (usually took a scooter to the CCH) but basically it’s as far as I would go.

From my experience immediately before the con has some of the best rates if the year. lol

Probably because ppl are cancelling their extra/backup rooms while it’s too short notice to attend EF.

Was it the Intercity hotel?

I booked my backup room last week for 1000€ or so (Scandic), and that was closer to the Clarion than the Esplanade.

In my experience room prices during NFC are pretty normal a few weeks after reg closes.

Last year the cheapest moment to book was probably the weekend before the con when ppl cancelled their backup reservations and what not.

Some context, mostly started looking at this due to the room category I have booked the years before only becoming available a few days ago.

ATM no one else seems to have booked this room category so maybe the hotel gets of its high horse closer to the con. lol

Similar mechanisms exist here obv.

One thing to note tho is that the dates are released very early, before most of the hotels even allow booking.

TBF for when going to a research convention I usually also pick the closest hotel, with my colleagues also strongly prefering very close hotels. But yeah I guess it's less critical.

At EF if I'm not in the connected hotel I probably go from suiting four times to not at all.

While hotels in the area around CCH are a cheaper, the pattern holds pretty much.

EF seems to be the event with the highest buying pressure.

Maybe Europe is just a shitty place to host large furry conventions, I honestly don't know a place (in EU) that would be more suitable than CCH.
Maybe Messe Frankfurt H5 + Maritim..

There simply are none of those integrated hotel+convention centers with thousands of rooms like in the US.

At least to me it appears that EF is quite a special case when it comes to the hotel prices. lol

I'm not aware of any other con where hotels are this crazy, even e.g. MFF out of block is cheaper.

Oh and btw the cheapest flexible early+late rate for EF in the Radisson rn is 3684€ (3310€ with loyalty discount) for 2 person room. lol

Tho note that I would take this with a grain of salt as it is possible that the hotel simply has not made these rooms available during the specific EF week, for whatever reason.

Similarly when it comes to indicators in regards to how booked out the hotel is, no dates appear as busy as EF.

This especially applies to the high end categories such as the 7 Suites or the 2 Presidential suites (both unavailable) which I would estimate at 1000+€ per night.

With how the hotel prices for EF are looking like this year, I checked how much the Radisson is for other large Messe/CCH bussiness events like SMM (50K attendees), OMR (70K) or tourist events like Hafengeburtstag (1M+).

NO dates are more expensive than EF. lol
